Career

Early Life and Becoming a Model

Jon Kortajarena was born in Bilbao, Spain. He was discovered by chance in September 2003. He was on vacation in Barcelona and went with a friend to a fashion show.

At the show, someone who works in fashion noticed him. They encouraged him to try modeling. His first professional job was at Madrid Fashion Week for designer Roberto Verino.

At 18, Jon became the face of Just Cavalli for their spring campaign in 2004. This helped his career take off quickly. He soon walked in international fashion shows in Milan and Paris for brands like Emporio Armani and John Galliano.

Later, famous photographer Steven Meisel took his picture for Versace. Jon has also walked the runway for many other top designers, including Bottega Veneta, Dolce & Gabbana, Salvatore Ferragamo, Carolina Herrera, Giorgio Armani, and Chanel.

In 2007, Jon signed a contract with Guess and renewed it in 2008. He also started working with Tom Ford, becoming a key male model for the brand for several seasons.

In 2008, he was featured on the cover of L'Officiel Hommes magazine. The magazine dedicated 200 pages to him, which was a first for a male model. This made him a big name in the fashion world.

In 2009, Forbes magazine listed him as the 8th most successful male model globally. That same year, German GQ named him Model of the Year, and Spain's Marie Claire gave him the Best Spanish Model award.

Modeling and Acting Today

Since 2010, Jon has continued to work on many major ad campaigns for brands like H&M, Pepe Jeans, and Next. In 2011, he was part of a big advertising campaign for Lacoste.

He appeared on the cover of Vogue Spain in March 2011. He was also chosen to be the main model for Roberto Cavalli Men's Spring/Summer 2012 fashion show.
