Kamille's Early Life and Career Start

Camille Angelina Purcell was born on June 29, 1988, in Streatham, London. Her family comes from Jamaica and Cuba. Growing up, Kamille felt she had to achieve a lot. Her mother received an MBE award, and her father was a successful businessman.

Kamille loved singing as a child. She even attended the Sylvia Young Theatre School on weekends. There, she improved her singing, dancing, and acting skills. However, her parents wanted her to focus on her education first. She listened to them and earned a degree in economics. After college, she worked as a stockbroker.

Kamille started her songwriting journey when a family friend introduced her to a music producer. She began spending time in a studio after her work hours. One day, she decided to leave her stockbroker job during lunch and never went back.

Months later, in 2012, Kamille had her first big success. She co-wrote a song called "What About Us". This song was given to The Saturdays and featured Sean Paul. The track quickly went straight to number one in the UK.

Kamille's Songwriting Success and Pure Cut

After her hit with "What About Us", Kamille began writing for many artists. These included Leona Lewis, Jessie J, JLS, and especially Little Mix. In November 2013, Little Mix released their second album, ‘Salute’. Kamille had co-written three songs on it. This started a long and successful partnership with the group.
