Karmen's Early Life and Sports
Karmen Pedaru grew up in Kehra, Estonia. She was raised by her grandmother. This happened after her mother passed away when Karmen was only five years old.
Karmen came from a family that loved sports. Because of this, she became interested in sports very early on. From the age of six, she played many different sports. These included basketball, soccer, and handball. She even played as a goalkeeper for Estonia's national under-19 soccer team for one year. Later, she decided to stop playing soccer to focus on her modeling career.
Karmen's Modeling Journey
Karmen Pedaru was discovered in 2005. She was 15 years old at the time. This happened at the Draamateater theater in Tallinn, Estonia. Soon after, she signed with Next Models, a modeling agency. She then appeared in a fashion story for Teen Vogue magazine.
First Steps in Fashion
Karmen's first time walking on a runway was in 2006. She walked for designer Christopher Kane during the spring 2007 fashion season. Her big chance came during the fall 2008 shows. This was at New York Fashion Week. She walked in an amazing 43 fashion shows! She appeared in shows for famous brands like Marc Jacobs, Donna Karan, Givenchy, and Dries Van Noten.
Working with Big Brands
Since then, Karmen has been in many advertisements. She worked for brands like Chloe, Gucci, Jill Stuart, Missoni, Nicole Farhi, Ralph Lauren, and Derek Lam. In 2011, she became the new face of Michael Kors. She took over from another Estonian model, Carmen Kass. .....
In 2012, Karmen appeared in a campaign for Belstaff. She worked alongside the actor Ewan McGregor. Karmen has walked for many designers in major fashion cities. These include New York, London, Milan, and Paris. Some of these designers are Shiatzy Chen, Alexander McQueen, Chanel, Christian Dior, D&G, Diane von Furstenberg, Louis Vuitton, Roberto Cavalli, Versace, and Yves Saint Laurent.
Victoria's Secret and Magazine Features
In 2011, Karmen made her first appearance in the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. She wore two different outfits in the show. One of her outfits even had wings!
Karmen has also been featured in many fashion magazines. She appeared in Numéro, Harper's Bazaar, Elle, V Magazine, W Magazine, and Dazed & Confused. She was also in different international editions of Vogue magazine. These included the Italian, French, British, Korean, German, Portuguese, and Japanese versions.

In March 2014, Karmen Pedaru was ranked very high. She was number 4 on the "Top 50 Models" list. This list was put together by Models.com. She is also recognized as an "Industry Icon" and a "Money Girl." These titles show her importance and success in the modeling world.
