Kitty Ann Mountain is a mountain located in northern New Jersey, United States. It's part of the Ramapo Mountains, which are a smaller range within the larger Appalachian Mountains. This mountain stands high above the town of Kinnelon in Morris County.

At the very top of Kitty Ann Mountain, there is an 80-foot tall tower. The highest point of the mountain is 1,159 feet above sea level. The mountain's "prominence" is a measurement of how much it rises above the land around it. The north side of Kitty Ann Mountain has a prominence of 892 feet, which is the highest in New Jersey!

How the Mountain Grows

Kitty Ann Mountain is slowly growing taller by about 2.4 millimeters each year. This happens because of something called the Ramapo mountain fault, which is a crack in the Earth's crust.

The mountain is made up of different types of rocks. These include granite, marble, limestone, quartz, and gneiss. These rocks have been forming the mountain over a very long time.

Plants and Animals

Many different kinds of trees grow on Kitty Ann Mountain. You can find maple trees, pine trees, oak trees, sassafras trees, and birch trees.

The mountain is also home to lots of wildlife. Some of the animals that live there include white-tailed deer, rabbits, squirrels, coyotes, foxes, raccoons, beavers, groundhogs, American black bears, and even eastern wolfes. It's a busy place for nature!
