Early Life and Experiences
Kossisko was born to a Jewish mother and an African father and grew up in Berkeley, California.
When they were 16, their father sent them to a boarding school in Abidjan, a city in the Ivory Coast in Africa. Kossisko was told it was just a vacation, but they ended up staying there for a long time. Life at the school was very difficult. They lived in a crowded house and got sick with malaria five times.
After trying to leave the school, they were sent to live with their uncle in the small town of Bouaflé. Later, they moved with their uncle's family to the city of Yamoussoukro. During their time in the Ivory Coast, Kossisko learned to speak French. They returned to the United States in late 2010.
Music Career
Kossisko began to focus on rapping in 2011 at age 19. After returning from the Ivory Coast, they started recording music as the rapper 100s.
Becoming 100s
On September 5, 2012, 100s released the mixtape Ice Cold Perm. The cover art was inspired by the album Tha Doggfather by Snoop Dogg. A few months later, the music video for the song "Brick Sell Phone" was released.
In early 2013, Kossisko went on tour with the musician Kreayshawn. They also performed at the popular music festival SXSW.
Signing with Fool's Gold Records
On June 4, 2013, 100s released a music video for the song "1999". Soon after, it was announced that they had signed with A-Trak's record label, Fool's Gold Records.
Their song "Life of a Mack" was featured in the video game Grand Theft Auto V on the Radio Los Santos station. Because the song became popular from the game, it was released as a single. Around the same time, Kossisko was featured in a commercial for the iPhone 5c. From October to December 2013, they toured with the rapper ASAP Ferg.
The Ivry EP and a New Direction
In February 2014, 100s released a new song and announced a free EP called Ivry. The EP was released on March 6, 2014, and received good reviews from music critics.
At the end of one of their music videos, a message appeared from the artist. It said goodbye to the fans of 100s and explained that it was time for a new journey. This marked the end of the 100s character.
Performing as Kossisko
In 2016, Kossisko said they felt "reborn" after retiring the 100s character. They explained that performing as Kossisko was a fresh start.
Personal Life
In a March 2024 interview, Kossisko shared that they identify as non-binary. They use they/them pronouns.
Cultural Influence
Marvel Comics paid tribute to Kossisko's work as 100s. They created a special comic book cover that was a remix of the cover for the IVRY EP.
