The La Loma Hills are a small, low mountain range in Southern California. They are part of a larger group of mountains called the Peninsular Ranges. You can find these hills in the busy urban area known as the Inland Empire.

Where are the La Loma Hills?

These hills are located in the very southwestern part of San Bernardino County. They are just north of the city of Riverside. The border with Riverside County is also nearby.

How the Santa Ana River Flows

The Santa Ana River flows around the La Loma Hills. The hills actually make the river change direction! It flows along the northern side of the hills. Then, it turns and flows south along their western side.

  • The community of Grand Terrace is also to the east.

What are the La Loma Hills Made Of?

The La Loma Hills are part of a larger geological area. This area is known for having many fault-bounded blocks. These are large pieces of Earth's crust that have moved along cracks called faults. The San Jacinto Fault Zone, a major earthquake fault, is located to the northeast of the hills.
