Lake Wilson is a small city in Murray County, Minnesota, United States. It is named after the nearby Lake Wilson. In 2020, about 254 people lived there.

History of Lake Wilson
Lake Wilson was first planned out in 1883. It officially became a village on July 12, 1900. The city and the lake were named by J. E. Wilson, who owned land in the area.
Major Events in Lake Wilson
On June 16, 1992, a very strong tornado hit Lake Wilson. This tornado was an F5, which is the strongest type. It destroyed about half of the town. Luckily, the community worked hard to rebuild everything.
Later, on January 12, 2004, the city's fire station exploded. This explosion also destroyed a nearby grain elevator, which is a tall building used to store grain. Many homes and businesses were damaged. People could hear the blast from 25 miles away and feel it from 30 miles away! The city spent about $4.2 million to recover from this event. Both the fire station and the grain elevator have been rebuilt since then.
Geography of Lake Wilson
Lake Wilson is located in the western part of Murray County. It is surrounded by Chanarambie Township to the north, west, and south. Leeds Township is to the east.
Main Roads in Lake Wilson
Two important roads, Minnesota State Highways 30 and 91, pass through the city. Highway 30 goes through the southern part of Lake Wilson. It leads east 10 miles to Slayton, which is the main town of the county. It goes west 18 miles to Pipestone. Highway 91 runs through the middle of the city. It goes north 23 miles to Russell and south 25 miles to Adrian.
Area and Water
The city of Lake Wilson covers about 0.50 square miles (1.3 square kilometers). Most of this area, 0.41 square miles (1.1 square kilometers), is land. The rest, about 0.08 square miles (0.22 square kilometers), is water. The lake that gives the city its name, Lake Wilson, is in the eastern part of the city.
