Main Characters
Scrooge McDuck
Scrooge McDuck is known as the richest duck in the world! He lives in Duckburg, a city in Calisota. Scrooge is the uncle of Donald Duck and Della Duck, and the great-uncle of Huey, Dewey, and Louie Duck. He is the main hero of both the original 1987 series and the 2017 reboot. Carl Barks first created Scrooge in 1947.
In the 1987 show, Scrooge loves to find treasure and make his fortune even bigger. He became rich all by himself, starting with just one special coin, his Number One Dime, after leaving Scotland. He built his famous Money Bin to keep all his cash safe.
In the 2017 series, Scrooge is still from Scotland and has his Money Bin and Number One Dime. But now, he's also known as a super adventurous business owner. He got rich during the Klondike Gold Rush in the 1890s. He used to go on adventures with his nephew Donald and niece Della. When Della disappeared, Scrooge stopped adventuring. Ten years later, he gets his spark back when he meets Donald's nephews.
Huey, Dewey, and Louie Duck
Huey, Dewey, and Louie Duck are the nephews of Donald Duck and the sons of his sister Della Duck. They are also the great-nephews of Scrooge McDuck and friends with Webby. These three brothers were first created for the comics in 1937.
In the 1987 series, the boys come to live with Scrooge when Donald joins the navy. They are playful and sometimes cause mischief. They are also dedicated members of the Junior Woodchucks scouts. All three look and act the same. They wear matching caps and jumpers, with the only difference being the color: Huey wears red, Dewey wears blue, and Louie wears green. This color scheme became famous and was used for them in other cartoons too.
In the 2017 series, Huey, Dewey, and Louie are a bit older and have different looks and personalities.
- Huey, in red, is the smart older brother and a serious Junior Woodchuck.
- Dewey, in blue, is the brave and sensitive middle brother. He really wants to find out what happened to their mom, Della.
- Louie, in green, is the relaxed younger brother who loves money and is good at making plans. He's sometimes jokingly called the "evil triplet."
They are mischievous around Donald but look up to Scrooge and his amazing adventures. They first moved in with Scrooge after Donald needed help babysitting and their houseboat got wrecked. They now join Scrooge on his new adventures.

Webbigail "Webby" Vanderquack is the granddaughter of Mrs. Beakley and a good friend of Huey, Dewey and Louie Duck. She also calls Scrooge "Uncle Scrooge." Webby is a character created just for DuckTales.
In the 1987 series, Webby looks like April, May, and June from the Disney comics. She is younger than the nephews but the same size. She is a kind-hearted girl who always carries her "Quacky-Patch" doll. She loves animals, from penguins to dinosaurs. Webby usually wears a pink shirt and a big bow. She can be shy but is also a good Junior Woodchuck scout.
In the 2017 series, Webby is about the same age as the boys. She is very smart and athletic. She wears a pink shirt with a blue vest, a purple skirt, and a smaller bow. Webby is a huge fan of adventure and knows a lot about the Clan McDuck family history. She looks up to Scrooge and Donald as amazing adventurers. Webby grew up mostly at home, but when the boys arrive, her grandmother lets her explore more. The boys quickly become her close friends. In the series finale, it's revealed that Webby is actually a clone of Scrooge, created by a secret group called F.O.W.L. Scrooge happily accepts her as his daughter.

He is also a Junior Woodchuck scout leader. He wears a classic pilot's outfit with a leather cap and flight goggles. Launchpad also became a main character in Disney's Darkwing Duck show.
In the 2017 series, Launchpad starts as Scrooge's limo driver. Later, he becomes the pilot of "The Sunchaser" airplane, which is his favorite vehicle. He still crashes a lot, but he's very funny. In the 2017 series, Donald has a much bigger role. He, Della, and Scrooge used to go on adventures together. But after Della disappeared, Donald stopped talking to Scrooge for ten years and raised Della's sons himself. In the first episode, Donald reunites with Scrooge to ask him to babysit. After an adventure, Donald and the boys move into McDuck Manor. Donald still has his famous bad luck and short temper, but he tries his best to be a good parent to his nephews.
Della Duck
Della Duck is the mother of Huey, Dewey and Louie Duck, the younger twin sister of Donald Duck, and the niece of Scrooge McDuck. While Della appeared in comics before, the 2017 DuckTales series is her first time on screen in a cartoon.
Before the show, Della loved adventuring with her brother and uncle. She usually wears a pilot's outfit. Her sons grew up without knowing her. In the first season, the ducklings investigate her disappearance. It's revealed that Della, a passionate pilot, took off in a spaceship built by Scrooge, the Spear of Selene. She got caught in a cosmic storm, and contact was lost. Donald blamed Scrooge and raised the triplets alone.
In "The Shadow War!", Della is shown to be alive but stuck on the Moon. In season two, we learn she lost her left leg and built a new one. She survived using special gum that gave her oxygen and food. She also used her Junior Woodchuck skills. Ten years after the crash, she met the Moonlanders. She eventually returns to Earth and reunites with her family.
