Other Pineapple Producing Countries
Many other countries around the world also grow pineapples, though in smaller amounts. For example, countries like Madagascar, Australia, and Sri Lanka produce between 10,000 and 100,000 metric tonnes each year. Even more countries produce less than 10,000 tonnes, including Japan, Israel, and South Korea. Every pineapple grown helps meet the world's demand for this sweet fruit!
How Pineapple Production Has Changed Over Time
Looking back at how much pineapple countries produced in the past can show us interesting trends. For example, in 2020, the Philippines, Costa Rica, and Brazil were among the top producers, just like they are today. However, some countries have changed a lot. Indonesia, for instance, has greatly increased its pineapple production over the years. In 1970, Indonesia produced 76,000 tonnes, but by 2020, it grew over 2.4 million tonnes! This shows how farming methods and global demand can change over time.
