Museums That Are No Longer Open
Some museums in Merseyside have closed or their collections have moved to other places. Here are a few:
- Bootle Free Library and Museum: Its collections are now part of The Atkinson.
- Cavern Mecca: This museum closed in 1984.
- Botanic Gardens Museum: Its collections are now part of The Atkinson.
- HM Customs & Excise National Museum, Liverpool: Its collections are now a gallery inside the Merseyside Maritime Museum.
- King's Regiment (Liverpool) Museum, Liverpool: This museum closed in 2006. Its collections will reopen as a gallery in the Museum of Liverpool.
- Liverpool Scottish Regimental Museum, Liverpool: Its artifacts are now stored safely.
- Museum of Liverpool Life, Liverpool: This museum closed in 2006. Its collections moved to the Museum of Liverpool.
- National Conservation Centre, Liverpool: This center closed to the public in 2010.
- Shore Road Pumping Station, Birkenhead
- Steamport Southport: Also known as Southport Railway Museum, it closed in 1999. Its collections are now part of the Ribble Steam Railway.
- Warship Preservation Trust, Birkenhead: This trust closed in 2006.
