Some museums in Merseyside have closed over time, but their collections often found new homes in other museums. The HM Customs & Excise National Museum's collections are now a gallery in the Merseyside Maritime Museum. The Museum of Liverpool Life closed, and its collections moved to the Museum of Liverpool.
