The Appalachian Trail (AT) is a super long hiking path that stretches all the way from Georgia to Maine! About 76 miles (122 km) of this famous trail winds through the beautiful state of Georgia. As hikers trek through Georgia, the trail mostly follows along mountain ridges, but it also climbs some impressive peaks. Two of these, Blood Mountain and Tray Mountain, are among the highest points in Georgia! This list will tell you about the cool mountains the AT crosses in Georgia, starting from its very beginning at Springer Mountain.

The Appalachian Trail in Georgia takes hikers over many different mountains. Here's a look at some of the main peaks you'd cross:

Sassafras Mountain 3,342 feet (1,019 m) Union About 10 miles (16 km) into the trail, this is the first big peak after Springer Mountain.
Justus Mountain 3,222 feet (982 m) Lumpkin Around here, the AT actually forms the border between Lumpkin and Union counties.
Phyllis Spur 3,108 feet (947 m) Union After this point, the trail drops down to cross Justus Creek.
Ramrock Mountain 3,200 feet (980 m) Union You'll cross a few smaller, unnamed peaks over 3,100 feet (945 m) before reaching Ramrock Mountain.
Jacobs Knob 3,520 feet (1,070 m) Lumpkin The AT passes very close to the top of Jacobs Knob, at about 3,490 feet (1,064 m) high.
Gaddis Mountain 3,560 feet (1,090 m) Union After passing Jarrard Gap, the trail climbs up Gaddis Mountain.
Turkey Stamp 3,760 feet (1,150 m) Lumpkin The AT follows a ridge, like a mountain spine, all the way from Gaddis Mountain to Turkey Stamp.
Blood Mountain 4,458 feet (1,359 m) Union At 28.3 miles (45.5 km) from Springer Mountain, this is the highest point on the AT in Georgia!
Levelland Mountain 3,846 feet (1,172 m) Union The AT goes near the top of Levelland Mountain, at about 3,800 feet (1,158 m) high.
Turkeypen Mountain 3,520 feet (1,070 m) Union Here, the AT once again follows the border between Lumpkin and Union counties.
Rock Spring Top 3,574 feet (1,089 m) Union The trail keeps going along the ridge that marks the border between Lumpkin and Union counties.
Wolf Laurel Top 3,760 feet (1,150 m) Lumpkin This peak is about 34.1 miles (54.9 km) from the start of the trail at Springer Mountain.
Cowrock 3,852 feet (1,174 m) Lumpkin This is the higher of two peaks on Cowrock Mountain and the highest point in Lumpkin County.
Wolfpen Stamp 3,644 feet (1,111 m) Union This peak is about 37.3 miles (60 km) from Springer Mountain.
Strawberry Top 3,680 feet (1,120 m) Union The AT drops about 120 feet (37 m) from Wolfpen Stamp before climbing up to Strawberry Top.
Poor Mountain 3,640 feet (1,110 m) White In this area, the AT marks the border between White and Union counties.
Sheep Rock Top 3,572 feet (1,089 m) Union The AT continues along the ridge that marks the border between White and Union counties.
Blue Mountain 4,000 feet (1,200 m) Towns After dropping to Low Gap Shelter, the AT goes past Horsetrough Mountain and Chattahoochee Gap before reaching Blue Mountain.
Rocky Mountain 4,017 feet (1,224 m) Towns After dropping to Unicoi Gap, the AT climbs up Rocky Mountain.
Tray Mountain 4,430 feet (1,350 m) Towns At 55.9 miles (90 km) from Springer Mountain, this peak offers amazing views from its top!
Round Top 3,964 feet (1,208 m) Towns From Tray Mountain, the AT generally follows a ridge, crossing several unnamed peaks before passing near Round Top.
Kelly Ridge 4,130 feet (1,260 m) Towns After going through Sassafras Gap and Addis Gap, the AT has a long climb up to Kelly Ridge, passing between its two high peaks, including Double Spring Knob.
Powell Mountain 3,840 feet (1,170 m) Rabun The AT crosses the border between Rabun and Towns counties many times here, then climbs Powell Mountain.
Rocky Knob 3,560 feet (1,090 m) Towns The AT generally follows the border between Towns and Rabun counties, and Rocky Knob is the last named peak it crosses in Georgia.
Bly Gap 3,840 feet (1,170 m) Rabun The AT follows a ridge and then the eastern side of Rich Knob before crossing into North Carolina at Bly Gap, which is 76.4 miles (123 km) from Springer Mountain.
