History of Manchester
Manchester started in 1907. This was when a train track, the Atlanta, Birmingham and Atlantic Railway, reached the area. Later, in 1946, this railway joined another one called the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad. From Manchester, the tracks split. One line went to Atlanta, and another went to Birmingham.
In 1909, the state of Georgia officially made Manchester a city. The city was named after Manchester, England. In 2019, CSX Transportation tore down the old Manchester Yard Office. They did this to build a new, bigger building for their train yard.
