Mandya District is an important administrative area in the state of Karnataka, India. It is located in the southern part of Karnataka. The district was created on July 1, 1939, from a larger area that was once part of Mysore district.
Mandya District shares its borders with several other districts. To the south, it is next to Mysore and Chamarajangar. To the west, you'll find Hassan District, and to the north, Tumkur District. On the eastern side, it borders Ramanagara district.
The main city and headquarters of Mandya District is Mandya. In 2011, about 1.8 million people lived in the district.

Where is Mandya District?
Mandya District is found between 12°13' to 13°04' North latitude and 76°19' to 77°20' East longitude. It covers an area of about 4,961 square kilometers. The city of Mandya is the center for all administrative activities in the district.
Rivers in Mandya
Mandya District is home to five rivers. The most important one is the Kaveri River. It also has four smaller rivers that flow into the Kaveri: Hemavathi, Shimsha, Lokapavani, and Veeravaishnavi. These rivers are very important for the district's agriculture.

- The Mandya subdivision includes the taluks of Mandya, Maddur, and Malavalli.
- The Pandavapura subdivision includes Pandavapura, Srirangapatna, Nagamangala, and Krishnarajpet Taluks.
What is the Economy Like?
Since Mandya District is located near the Kaveri River, farming is the most important job here. It is the biggest part of Mandya's economy. Farmers in Mandya grow many different crops.
The main crops are paddy (which is rice before it's processed) and sugarcane. Other important crops include jowar, maize, cotton, banana, ragi, coconut, pulses, and various vegetables.
