Manheim is a town located in Herkimer County, New York, United States. About 3,334 people lived there in 2010. The town's name comes from Mannheim, a city in Germany.
Manheim is in the southeastern part of Herkimer County. It borders the city of Little Falls to the southwest. The village of Dolgeville is in the northeast corner of the town. Manheim is also located east of Utica, a larger city. The Mohawk River forms the southern boundary of the town.

History of Manheim
Early Settlements
The area that is now Manheim was first settled around 1756. These early settlers came from different German states.
American Revolution Era
In 1780, during the American Revolution, some groups attacked settlements in the town. These attacks caused challenges for the early residents.
Town Formation
Manheim officially became a town in 1797. It was created from a part of the town of Palatine, which was then in Montgomery County.
Population Growth
By the year 1865, the population of Manheim had grown to 1,831 people. This shows how the town was developing over time.
Historical Landmark
The Snells Bush Church and Cemetery is an important historical site in Manheim. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2004. This list recognizes places that are significant to American history.

Manheim covers about 76.9 square kilometers (29.7 square miles) in total. Most of this area is land, about 75.5 square kilometers (29.1 square miles). The rest, about 1.4 square kilometers (0.56 square miles), is water.
The eastern border of the town is shared with Fulton County. This border is marked by the East Canada Creek. The southern border of Manheim is defined by the Mohawk River.
Major Roads
Several important roads run through Manheim. New York State Route 5 is a main highway that goes east-west through the southern part of the town.
New York State Route 167 and New York State Route 170A are highways that run north-south. NY-170A is in the northwest part of Manheim. NY-167 connects Little Falls to the village of Dolgeville.

Manheim is home to several smaller communities and interesting locations:
- East Canada Lake – This is a small lake found right at the eastern border of the town.
- Dolgeville – This village is located in the northeastern part of Manheim, along NY-167.
- East Creek – This is a small community, also called a hamlet. It's in the southeastern part of the town, on NY-5 near County Road 42, close to the Mohawk River.
- Five Mile Dam – This location is found near the Mohawk River.
- Garlock Corners – You can find this spot northwest of Manheim Center, on County Road 55.
- Ingham Mills – This hamlet is at the eastern town line, just south of Dolgeville. Part of it is also in the Town of Oppenheim in Fulton County. It was started in 1802 when mills were built there.
- Ingham Mills Station – This is another hamlet, located southeast of Manheim Center on County Road 42.
- Kyser Lake – A small lake situated north of Ingham Mills.
- Manheim Center – This is a central hamlet in the south-central part of the town, located on NY-167.
- Ransom Creek – This is a stream that flows into the northern end of Kyser Lake.
