MapleStory is a popular computer game that you play online. It was made by a Korean company called Wizet. Another company, Nexon, helps run the game and shares it with players.

It's free to play MapleStory! But, you can buy cool clothes and other special items. You get these items from a place in the game called the "Cash Shop." MapleStory is played by many people all over the world. The game has different versions for players in different countries. The name "MapleStory" comes from the maple leaf. You might even find maple leaf items during special events in the game!

Gameplay

MapleStory is a 2D side-scrolling game. This means you move your character left and right across the screen. It's also a Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game, or MMORPG. This means lots of players can play together at the same time.

Starting Your Adventure

When you start, you create your own character. Your character begins as a "Novice." The name of your first job depends on the class you choose. You can go on exciting quests. You can also fight monsters to gain experience. This helps your character level up and become stronger. You might aim for level 120 or even level 200!

Job Advancements

As you level up, your character can get "Job Advancements." These make your character much stronger. Here are the levels usually needed for job advancements:

  • 1st Job: Level 10
  • 2nd Job: Level 30
  • 3rd Job: Level 70 (or Level 60 after some game updates)
  • 4th Job: Level 120 (or Level 100 after some game updates)

MapleStory gets new updates every year. These updates add new content and features. Some players think the updates make the game better. Others feel the game changes too much.

Exploring the Maple World

The world in MapleStory is huge! You will need ways to travel between places. Sometimes, you can take a ship. Taking a ship might cost in-game money called "mesos." You might also have to wait a little while. But don't worry, ships are usually free to make sure your character doesn't get stuck!

Mesos: In-Game Money

"Mesos" are the money you use in MapleStory. You can use mesos to buy useful things. These include potions to heal your character. You can also buy new equipment or cool items. The "Free Market" is a place where players sell items to each other. Be careful, some items there can be very expensive!

It can be tricky to earn mesos. You get them by completing quests or trading with other players. It's easy to spend them quickly on items in the Free Market.

Keeping the Game Fair

Sometimes, leveling up in MapleStory can be a challenge. This challenge is part of the fun for many players. It makes them want to keep playing! To keep the game fair for everyone, MapleStory has special security systems. These systems help prevent players from using unfair methods.

The game uses programs like HackShield or Ahnlab to protect it. Game Masters (GMs) are people who work for MapleStory. They try their best to make sure everyone plays fairly. They work hard to stop any unfair activities.

MapleStory DS

MapleStory DS is a special version of the game. It was made for the Nintendo DS handheld console. This game was created by Nexon and Nintendo. It was first released in Korea in April 2010.

Development and Features

The game was first talked about at a big event called E3 in 2006. On January 9, 2007, Nexon and Nintendo of Korea showed a preview video for the game. They first said it would come out in September 2007.

It was planned for MapleStory DS to be an online game. It would work with the Nintendo DS Wi-Fi System. However, the boss of international business development, Stephen Lee, later said the game would also have a single-player mode. He also mentioned that the game would use the DS microphone and touch screen features.
