Martavis Alexander Bryant (born December 20, 1991) is an American professional football player. He plays as a wide receiver. He played college football for the Clemson Tigers. The Pittsburgh Steelers chose him in the 2014 NFL draft. Bryant has also played for many other teams. These include the Oakland Raiders, Dallas Cowboys, and Washington Commanders in the NFL. He also played in the Canadian Football League (CFL), Indoor Football League (IFL), Fan Controlled Football (FCF), and the XFL.

Early Life and High School Football
Martavis Bryant was born in Calhoun Falls, South Carolina. He was a great football player in high school. He first went to Calhoun Falls High School. Later, he moved to T. L. Hanna High School in Anderson, South Carolina. This happened because his first high school closed down.
High School Achievements
In his senior year, Bryant was named first-team all-state. He caught 70 passes for 722 yards. He also scored 11 touchdowns. As a junior, he had 44 catches for 776 yards and six touchdowns. Experts like Rivals.com thought he was one of the best wide receiver prospects. After high school, he spent a year at Hargrave Military Academy. This helped him meet college eligibility rules.
Track and Field Success
Bryant was also a talented sprinter for the T. L. Hanna track team. He finished second in the 100 meters race. His best time was 10.85 seconds. He also won the 200 meters race in 2010. His fastest time for that was 21.46 seconds.
College Football Career
Bryant started at Clemson University in 2011. He had to compete with other future NFL players. These included Sammy Watkins and DeAndre Hopkins.
Freshman Year (2011)
His first catch was for 54 yards against Troy. The next week, he scored his first touchdown. It was a 42-yard catch against Wofford. He started his first game against Virginia Tech. Sophomore Year (2012)

Pittsburgh Steelers (2014–2017)
The Pittsburgh Steelers picked Bryant in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL draft. He signed a four-year contract with them.
2014 Season Highlights
Bryant did not play in the first six games. His coach wanted him to improve in practice. He finally played in Week 7 against the Houston Texans. His first NFL catch was a 35-yard touchdown. He finished that game with two catches for 40 yards. On October 26, he caught five passes for 83 yards and two touchdowns. This was in a big win over the Indianapolis Colts. He started his first game on November 2 against the Baltimore Ravens. He scored two more touchdowns in that game. His five touchdowns in his first three games set an NFL record. He later set another record with six touchdowns in his first four games.
In the playoffs, he caught five passes for 61 yards and a touchdown. He finished his first season with 26 catches for 549 yards and eight touchdowns. He played in ten games. His 21.1 yards per catch was the best in the NFL that year.
2015 Season Challenges
Bryant missed the first four games of the 2015 season. This was due to not following league rules. He returned to play on October 18. In a win against the Arizona Cardinals, he caught six passes for 137 yards and two touchdowns. One was an 88-yard touchdown. He had a season-high 178 receiving yards against the Cleveland Browns. He also scored a 64-yard touchdown in that game. In Week 15, he caught a career-high ten passes against the Denver Broncos.
In the playoffs, he made an amazing catch against the Bengals. He caught the ball while doing a front flip. He held it against his leg to complete the catch. This play helped the Steelers win. In the next playoff game, he had nine catches for 154 yards. He also rushed for 40 yards.
2016 Season Suspension
Bryant was suspended for the entire 2016 NFL season. This was again for not following league rules.
2017 Season Return
On April 25, 2017, Bryant was allowed to play again. He started the season as a wide receiver. In Week 2, he caught three passes for 91 yards and his first touchdown of the season. This was in a win against the Minnesota Vikings. Later in the season, he expressed frustration about his role. He even asked to be traded, but the team did not trade him. He finished the 2017 season with 50 catches for 603 yards and three touchdowns. In the playoffs, he had two catches for 78 yards and a touchdown.
Oakland Raiders (2018)
In April 2018, the Steelers traded Bryant to the Oakland Raiders. He played in eight games for the Raiders. He caught 19 passes for 266 yards. He was later placed on injured reserve due to a knee injury. In December 2018, the NFL suspended Bryant again for not following league rules.
Other Leagues and Teams
After his time in the NFL, Bryant played for several other football leagues.

Personal Life
Clemson University started recruiting Martavis Bryant when he was a freshman in high school. He decided to commit to Clemson during his second year of high school. He has many tattoos, including the NFL shield logo on his stomach. This tattoo reminds him that he was drafted in the fourth round and helps keep him motivated. His cousin, Kelly Bryant, also played quarterback for Clemson. Kelly Bryant was also a teammate on the Toronto Argonauts.
