Martavis Alexander Bryant (born December 20, 1991) is an American professional football wide receiver. He played college football for the Clemson Tigers. He was chosen by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL draft. Bryant has also played for other teams like the Oakland Raiders, Dallas Cowboys, and Washington Commanders in the NFL. He also played in the Canadian Football League (CFL), Indoor Football League (IFL), Fan Controlled Football (FCF), and the XFL.

Early Life and High School Sports
Martavis Bryant was born in Calhoun Falls, South Carolina. He was a great football player. He first went to Calhoun Falls High School. Later, he moved to T. L. Hanna High School in Anderson, South Carolina.
In his senior year, he was named first-team all-state. He caught 70 passes for 722 yards and scored 11 touchdowns. As a junior, he had 44 catches for 776 yards and six touchdowns. Experts thought he was one of the top 10 wide receiver prospects in the country.
Bryant was also a fast sprinter for the T. L. Hanna track team. He finished second in the 100 meters race. He also won the 200 meters race in 2010.
College Football Career
Martavis Bryant started playing for Clemson University in 2011. He had to compete with other future NFL players like Sammy Watkins and DeAndre Hopkins.
Freshman Year (2011)
His first catch was for 54 yards against Troy. The next week, he scored his first college touchdown. It was a 42-yard catch against Wofford. He started his first game against No. 10 Virginia Tech. He also played in his first bowl game, the Orange Bowl. He finished his first season with nine catches, 220 receiving yards, and two touchdowns.
Sophomore Year (2012)
Bryant's performance improved in his second year. Against Ball State, he had a touchdown catch and also returned kickoffs. He led the team with 108 all-purpose yards in that game. For the season, he had 10 catches for 305 receiving yards and four touchdowns. He led all college football players with 30.5 yards per catch.
Junior Year (2013)
His junior year was his best in college. He helped his team win against No. 5 Georgia by recovering an onside kick. Against North Carolina State, he caught six passes for 73 yards.
On November 14, he had a career-high 176 receiving yards against Georgia Tech. In his second Orange Bowl, he scored two touchdowns against No. 6 Ohio State. He ended 2013 with 42 catches, 828 receiving yards, and seven touchdowns. Overall, he had 61 catches, 1,354 receiving yards, and 13 touchdowns in his college career.
On January 5, 2014, Bryant decided to leave college early. He chose to enter the 2014 NFL Draft.
Professional Football Career
Before the NFL Draft, experts thought Bryant would be picked in the second to fourth round. He showed his skills at the NFL Combine and Clemson's Pro Day.

Pittsburgh Steelers
The Pittsburgh Steelers picked Martavis Bryant in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL Draft. He was the 19th wide receiver chosen. He signed a four-year contract with the team.
2014 Season
Bryant did not play in the first six weeks of the season. His coach wanted him to improve in practice. He finally played in Week 7 against the Houston Texans. His first NFL catch was a 35-yard touchdown! He ended that game with two catches for 40 yards.
On October 26, he caught five passes for 83 yards and two touchdowns against the Indianapolis Colts. On November 2, he started his first NFL game against the Baltimore Ravens. He had three catches and two touchdowns. His five touchdowns in his first three games set a new NFL record. In Week 10, he had a season-high 143 yards and an 80-yard touchdown catch against the New York Jets. This made it six touchdowns in his first four games, another NFL record.
He finished his first season with 26 catches for 549 yards and eight touchdowns in ten games. His 21.1 yards per catch was the best among NFL wide receivers in 2014.
2015 Season

Bryant missed the start of the 2015 season due to a suspension. He returned on October 18, 2015. In a game against the Arizona Cardinals, he caught six passes for 137 yards and two touchdowns, including an 88-yard touchdown. He started his first game of the season on October 25.
In Week 10, he had a season-high 178 receiving yards and a 64-yard touchdown against the Cleveland Browns. On December 13, he caught seven passes for 49 yards against the Bengals. In Week 15, he had a career-high ten catches for 87 yards against the Denver Broncos.
In the playoffs against the Cincinnati Bengals, Bryant made an amazing catch. He did a front flip and held the ball against his leg to score a touchdown. In the next playoff game against the Broncos, he had nine catches for 154 yards. He also ran for 40 yards.
2017 Season
On April 25, 2017, Bryant was allowed to play again by the NFL. He started the season as a wide receiver with Antonio Brown. In the first game, he caught two passes. The next week, he caught three passes for 91 yards and his first touchdown of the season.
Later in the season, Bryant expressed frustration about not getting enough chances to catch the ball. He even said he wanted to be traded. However, his coach said the team would not trade him. He was briefly moved to the scout team but was soon back with the main team.
Bryant finished the 2017 season with 50 catches for 603 yards and three touchdowns. In the playoffs, he had two catches for 78 yards and a touchdown against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Oakland Raiders
On April 26, 2018, the Steelers traded Bryant to the Oakland Raiders. He was released by the Raiders on September 1, 2018, but re-signed with them ten days later. He played in eight games, catching 19 passes for 266 yards. He was placed on injured reserve in December 2018 due to a knee injury. Later, the NFL suspended Bryant.
Other Teams
After his time with the Raiders, Martavis Bryant played for several other football teams.
- On January 25, 2021, he signed with the Toronto Argonauts in the Canadian Football League (CFL). He never played for them.
- On April 2, 2021, he signed with the Massachusetts Pirates in the Indoor Football League.
- The Edmonton Elks of the CFL signed him on February 28, 2022, but released him before training camp.
- On April 29, 2022, the FCF Beasts recruited Bryant to their team in Fan Controlled Football.
Bryant was chosen by the Vegas Vipers in the XFL draft in 2023. He played in eight games for the Vipers, catching 14 passes for 154 yards.
- On November 7, 2023, the Dallas Cowboys signed Bryant to their practice squad. He was released in January 2024.
- Bryant signed with the Washington Commanders on August 13, 2024, but was released later that month.

Personal Life
Clemson University started trying to recruit Martavis Bryant when he was a freshman in high school. He decided to commit to playing for them during his second year of high school. His cousin, Kelly Bryant, was also a quarterback for Clemson and a teammate on the Toronto Argonauts.
