Martyna Wojciechowska is a famous Polish TV presenter, mountaineer, and writer. She was born on September 28, 1974, in Warsaw, Poland. Martyna is known for her amazing adventures around the world. She has climbed some of the tallest mountains on Earth and hosts a popular TV show called Woman at the Edge of the World. She is also the editor-in-chief of National Geographic Poland.

Achieving a Mountaineering Goal

On January 22, 2010, Martyna reached the top of her last mountain, Mount Carstensz. This made her one of the few Polish women to complete this amazing challenge. Her journey was shown in a documentary called Korona Ziemi (The Crown of Earth). She also wrote two books about her climbs: Przesunąć horyzont (Move the Horizon) and Misja Everest (Mission Everest).

Overcoming Challenges

In 2004, Martyna had a serious car accident while filming a show in Iceland. Her friend and cameraman, Rafał Łukaszewicz, sadly passed away. Martyna broke her spine. After a long recovery, she bravely climbed Mount Everest in May 2006. She wrote about this experience in her book Przesunąć horyzont (Move the Horizon).

Even when she was pregnant, Martyna continued her climbing. In 2007, she climbed Mount Elbrus. When her daughter was eight months old, Martyna went to Antarctica to climb Vinson Massif. This is the highest mountain on that continent. During this trip, her group faced a strong snowstorm. They were trapped in their tents for many hours in very cold temperatures.

Martyna Wojciechowska has a daughter named Maria, who was born on April 17, 2008. Maria's father, Jerzy Blaszczyk, passed away in 2016.

Health and Recovery

In 2016, Martyna had a serious motorcycle accident. She broke her collarbone. Even though she was injured, she quickly returned to filming Woman at the Edge of the World. This led to more health problems, and she needed another operation. The new season of her show had to be delayed. Martyna later announced that TVN would still show half of the season using the episodes she had filmed before her accident.

Martyna Wojciechowska has been a licensed racing driver since she was 17.

Dakar Rally Success

In 2002, she took part in the famous Paris – Dakar Rally. She was the first Polish woman and the first woman from Central Eastern Europe to finish this tough race.

In 2018, the toy company Mattel created a special Shero Barbie doll in Martyna Wojciechowska's image. This was to honor her for "breaking stereotypes and inspiring women and girls around the world" to follow their dreams. Martyna is one of only a few Polish women to have a Barbie doll made after them.
