Michigamme is a small community in Marquette County, which is part of the U.S. state of Michigan. It is located within Michigamme Township. The community sits on the northern shores of Lake Michigamme.

Michigamme's History
The Michigamme post office has been open since 1873. The community got its name from the nearby Lake Michigamme.
Where is Michigamme?
Michigamme is in the western part of Marquette County. It's in the southern section of Michigamme Township. The community is about 37 miles (60 km) west of Marquette, which is the county seat. It is also 23 miles (37 km) west of Ishpeming.
Michigamme sits on the north side of Lake Michigamme. The lake's water flows into the Michigamme River. This river is part of the larger Menominee River system. The Menominee River eventually flows into Green Bay on Lake Michigan.
The area of Michigamme is about 4.65 square miles (12.05 square kilometers). About half of this area is land, and the other half is water.
