Mount Morris is a town in Livingston County, New York, United States. In 2010, the town had a population of 4,465 people. The town and its village are named after Robert Morris, an important person who helped found the United States.

The town of Mount Morris includes a village also called Mount Morris. The town is located on the western edge of Livingston County. It is also home to a part of Letchworth State Park.

History of Mount Morris

People from Europe first settled in the Mount Morris area around 1784. It was first called "Allens Hill," and later "Richmond Hill."

Mount Morris became a town in 1818, separating from the town of Leicester. The old Genesee Valley Canal used to run through the town. In 1952, the Mount Morris Dam was built on the Genesee River. It helps control floods in the area.

Mount Morris covers a total area of about 130.3 square kilometers (50.3 square miles). Most of this area is land, with only a small part being water.

The Genesee River forms the northwest border of the town. Part of the town's border with Wyoming County also follows the Genesee River.

Major roads like New York State Route 36 and New York State Route 408 meet in Mount Morris village. Interstate 390 passes close to the eastern border of the town.
