Mount Wonalancet is a mountain in New Hampshire, standing about 2,760 feet (841 meters) tall. It is located in the town of Waterville Valley, New Hampshire. This mountain offers great views of the small communities of Wonalancet and Ferncroft.

The mountain gets its name from Wonalancet. He was an important leader, called a sachem, of the Pennacook people. The Pennacook were a Native American group who lived in this area a long time ago, in the 1600s.

About Mount Wonalancet

Mount Wonalancet is part of the beautiful White Mountains in New Hampshire. It belongs to a smaller group of peaks known as the Sandwich Range. This mountain is found in Grafton County. It sits right next to the border of Carroll County, where the towns of Ferncroft and Wonalancet are located.

Where is Mount Wonalancet?

Mount Wonalancet shares its base with another mountain called Hibbard Mountain. These two peaks are located between some very well-known mountains. To the east, you'll find the popular Mount Chocorua. To the north is Mount Passaconaway, which is much taller, reaching over 4,000 feet (1,219 meters). To the west, you can see Mount Whiteface.

Along with Mount Paugus, which is to the east, Mount Wonalancet and Hibbard Mountain form the eastern edge of the Sandwich Range. The Sandwich Range is the southernmost part of the larger White Mountains. To the south of the Sandwich Range, you'll find the Ossipee Mountains. These mountains are just north of the large and famous Lake Winnipesaukee.

How to Visit Mount Wonalancet

Many people enjoy hiking to the top of Mount Wonalancet. The most common way to reach the summit is by using the Mast Trail. This trail starts from the Ferncroft parking area. It's a great way to explore the natural beauty of the White Mountains.
