Waterville Valley is a small town in Grafton County, New Hampshire, in the United States. In 2020, 508 people lived there. This was a big jump from 247 people in 2010!
It's a popular resort town that many people visit. In winter, you can go alpine skiing at Waterville Valley Resort. There are also many miles of trails for cross-country skiing. When summer comes, visitors enjoy the golf course, tennis courts, and lots of hiking trails. The Mad River flows through the town, offering beautiful views all year.

History of Waterville Valley
The first people settled in this area around the 1760s. The town was officially named "Waterville" in 1829. Later, in 1967, its name was changed to "Waterville Valley."
Geography and Mountains
Waterville Valley covers about 64.4 square miles (166.9 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, with only a tiny bit of water. The Mad River flows through the center of town. It heads southwest towards the Pemigewasset River.
The town is home to several tall mountains. The highest point is the North Peak of Mount Tripyramid, which is about 4,180 feet (1,274 meters) high. Other tall mountains in the town include:
- Mount Tecumseh in the west
- Mount Whiteface in the east
- Mount Passaconaway also in the east
Sandwich Mountain is located on the southern border of the town.

Waterville Valley Elementary School
This school is also known as the "Little Red School." In the 2011–2012 school year, it had 41 students from kindergarten to 8th grade. Kids at this school get to enjoy many outdoor activities. They can bike, swim, ski, skate, and play tennis right in Waterville Valley. There's also a recreation department connected to the school.
Waterville Valley Academy (WVA)
WVA is a special ski academy that started in 1972. It's located at the base of Snow's Mountain. About 160 students attend WVA. It's part of the WVBBTS ski club, which is the oldest ski club in America! In 2013, the academy started a full-year program called the Pinnacle Program.
Culture and Ideas
Since 1994, Waterville Valley has hosted a special summer meeting. It's called the Russell Sage Foundation Summer Institute in Behavioral Economics. This is where smart people discuss how psychology affects economic decisions. A famous Nobel Prize winner, Richard Thaler, said this meeting helped behavioral economics grow a lot.

Some well-known people have connections to Waterville Valley:
- Gene Conley: A professional athlete who played both NBA basketball and MLB baseball.
- Tom Corcoran (1931–2017): He was an Olympic skier and also helped start the Waterville Valley Resort.
