Mountain Dew Amp, often just called Amp, is a popular energy drink. It's made by PepsiCo, a big company that makes many drinks. Amp first came out in 2001.
When it was new, Amp was part of the Mountain Dew family. Later, around 2009, it became its own brand. But in 2018, it went back to having the Mountain Dew name on its cans. You can find Amp in 16-ounce and 24-ounce cans. It's sold in countries like the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Lebanon. In 2009, Amp Energy was one of the top four energy drink brands in the U.S.

Amp Energy Flavors
The first Amp Energy drink was made to taste like a special version of Mountain Dew. Its label in 2001 said "Amp Energy Drink from Mountain Dew."
In 2008, the label changed to just "Amp Energy." The Mountain Dew logo moved to the bottom of the cans. By 2011, the Mountain Dew logo was completely gone from Amp cans. This change was meant to make "Amp Energy" a stronger brand on its own.
Original Amp Energy has ingredients like taurine, B-vitamins, guarana, ginseng, and maltodextrin. A small can of Amp (8.4 fluid ounces) has 74 milligrams of caffeine.
Many Flavors to Choose From
Over time, Amp Energy added many new flavors. By 2011, these included:
- Original Amp Energy
- Sugar Free
- Overdrive (cherry flavor)
- Elevate (mixed berry flavor)
- Traction (grape flavor), which is now called Boost
- Green Tea
- Lightning (lemonade flavor)
- Sugar Free Lightning
- Watermelon
There was also a special flavor called Tradin Paint. It was a mix of orange, lime, and berry.
In 2010, Amp Energy also launched new Amp Energy Juices. These juices have B-vitamins, taurine, ginseng, and guarana. They came in Orange and Mixed Berry flavors. These juices were sold in 12-ounce bottles. Around the same time, Amp Energy Gum was also introduced. It had B-vitamins, taurine, and caffeine.
In 2013, Amp Energy brought back its popular Orange flavor.
Mountain Dew Amp Game Fuel
A new line of Amp drinks came out in 2018. It was called Mountain Dew Amp Game Fuel. This name was inspired by Mountain Dew's older line of Game Fuel drinks. These new cans have a special lid that you can close again. Mountain Dew Amp Game Fuel has also supported many esports (video game competitions).
Amp in the UK
In August 2013, a citrus-flavored Amp energy drink was launched in the United Kingdom. This version was also under the 'Mountain Dew' brand. It had a new logo unique to the UK. Like the early North American version, the Amp logo said 'Powered by Mountain Dew' underneath it.
The UK Amp Energy drink had more caffeine than the regular Mountain Dew Energy drink. It contained 31 milligrams of caffeine per 100 milliliters. It also used real sugar, which is common for UK soft drinks. This UK version of Amp was stopped in 2017. The company wanted to focus more on the original Mountain Dew drink.
