Mövenpick Ice Cream (German pronunciation: [ˈmøːfənˌpɪk]) is a famous brand of ice cream that started in Switzerland. It was first made by Nestlé. Since 2016, a company called Froneri makes it. Froneri is a partnership between Nestlé and another ice cream company, R&R Ice Cream.

History of Mövenpick Ice Cream

The very first Mövenpick restaurant opened in Zürich, Switzerland, on July 19, 1948. It was started by a person named Ueli Prager. By 1958, there were eight Mövenpick restaurants across Switzerland. Ueli Prager continued to lead the Mövenpick group until 1991. Today, this group is known for its hotels and resorts.

In the 1960s, Mövenpick ice cream was made only for sale in their own restaurants. Later, in 1972, a special factory was built in Bursins to make the ice cream. Now, the main production has moved to a bigger factory in Rorschach, Switzerland.

Over the years, different companies have helped make and sell Mövenpick ice cream around the world. For example, in 1974, a German ice cream maker named Theo Schöller got a license to sell Mövenpick in Germany. In 2003, Nestlé bought the international rights for Mövenpick ice cream from the hotel group. This meant Nestlé could sell Mövenpick ice cream in many countries.

In 2016, Mövenpick became part of a new company called Froneri. This company was created by Nestlé and R&R Ice Cream working together.

How Mövenpick Ice Cream is Made and Shared

The main place where Mövenpick ice cream is made is in Switzerland. For countries in the Middle East, special Halal ice cream is made at a Nestlé factory in Egypt.

Mövenpick works with partner companies in many countries. These partners help make and sell the ice cream in places like Germany, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia.

In 2006, Nestlé Schöller announced a new way of making ice cream called the "conching" process. This special process helps create tiny ice crystals and bubbles as the ice cream freezes. This makes the ice cream very creamy, even with less fat! It helped reduce the fat content in some flavors by 30 to 40%.
