Nickelodeon Global is a special TV channel for kids. It's the international version of the American Nickelodeon channel. It used to be called Nickelodeon Europe and Nickelodeon Export.

This channel is run by Paramount Networks EMEAA in places like Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. In Latin America and Brazil, it's run by Paramount Networks Americas.

How Nickelodeon Global Started

Early Days: Nickelodeon Export

Back in the late 1980s, the American Nickelodeon channel started being shown in many European countries. This included the USSR in 1988. People could watch it without any translation.

At first, Viacom (now Paramount) decided not to create a separate Nickelodeon channel just for Europe. They wanted to be careful. Instead, on 1 September 1993, Nickelodeon UK was launched. This channel was a partnership with BSkyB (now Sky UK). This UK version was then shared with the rest of Europe.

Growing Across Europe: Nickelodeon Global

The channel that covered all of Europe officially started on 15 November 1998. It was called Nickelodeon Europe and broadcasted all day, every day. Between 1998 and 2000, it became available in Malta, Romania, and Hungary.

In the early 2000s, the channel added special blocks of shows. These included Nick Movies, Toons on Toast, Nick Zone, and Nick Double. In 2004, Nickelodeon Europe grew even more, reaching other parts of Eastern Europe. It even started broadcasting in Russian. From May 2004 until October 2012, Nickelodeon Europe was the main channel in the CIS and Baltic countries.

On 10 February 2010, the channel got a new logo. This new look matched other Nickelodeon channels around the world. Even though the channel's main broadcasting center was still in London, it started broadcasting under a Czech license that same year. This was because of broadcasting rules in the Czech Republic.

Between 2010 and 2013, Nickelodeon Europe expanded to the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Croatia, Slovenia, Bulgaria, and Serbia. On 17 September 2011, the channel changed to a wider screen format (16:9). Then, on 4 October 2011, it started broadcasting in HD format. In some countries, like the CIS, it was known as Nickelodeon HD.

In 2013, the channel's programming started being managed from Amsterdam. In October 2017, new audio options were added for the Baltic States, including Lithuanian, Latvian, and Estonian.

On 31 August 2021, Nickelodeon Europe changed its name to Nickelodeon Global. This channel now reaches 85 countries! Nickelodeon Global kept its Czech license. This helps the channel continue broadcasting legally in the European Union.

More languages were added later. On 5 April 2022, a Kazakh-language audio track was added for Kazakhstan. Since December 2022, Nickelodeon Global has been the main channel in the CIS countries (except for Russia and Belarus) once again.

On 1 June 2023, a Ukrainian-language audio track was added. On 1 August 2023, the channel updated its look with a new logo and design. On 25 November 2024, an Arabic-language audio track was added.
