North Dansville is a small town located in Livingston County, New York, United States. In 2010, about 5,538 people lived there. The town is in the southeast part of Livingston County. The village of Dansville is right in the middle of the town.

History of North Dansville

The first people to settle in this area arrived around 1795. The town of North Dansville was officially created in 1846. It was formed from a part of another town called Sparta. A few years later, in 1849, North Dansville grew even bigger when more land was added from Sparta. Long ago, a part of the Genesee Valley Canal used to run through the town.

Geography and Location

North Dansville covers an area of about 25.5 square kilometers (9.86 square miles). All of this area is land.

The eastern and southern edges of the town are next to Steuben County. The town of Dansville in Steuben County is directly south of North Dansville. A major highway, Interstate 390, goes through the town. Other important roads like New York State Route 36, New York State Route 63, and New York State Route 256 also pass through. The Canaseraga Creek flows north through the town, heading towards the Genesee River.
