What Makes North Shore Special?
North Shore has grown a lot, especially around its two big stadiums. The people living here are represented by members of the Pittsburgh City Council. These council members help make decisions for the neighborhood.
Getting Around: Light Rail Stations
Getting to and from North Shore is easy thanks to its modern transportation. Two new light rail stations opened in the spring of 2012.
- The North Side station is right next to PNC Park. It's also near the entrance of the Allegheny River Tunnel.
- The Allegheny station is close to Acrisure Stadium. This station is currently the last stop on the western end of the light rail line.
Future Plans for North Shore
There are always new ideas for North Shore! In October 2014, plans were suggested for two new 11-story office buildings. These tall buildings would add even more to the area. The project is likely to move forward once a main company agrees to rent space there.
North Shore's Location and Neighbors
North Shore is located along the Allegheny River. This river meets the Monongahela River nearby to form the Ohio River. It's a great spot with lots of connections to other parts of Pittsburgh.

North Shore shares its borders with several other Pittsburgh neighborhoods:
- To the west, you'll find Chateau.
- To the northwest, there's Allegheny West.
- Allegheny Center is to the north.
- To the northeast, you'll find East Allegheny.
- And to the east, there's Troy Hill.
Connecting to Downtown Pittsburgh
It's super easy to get from North Shore to Downtown Pittsburgh. Several famous bridges connect the two areas:
You can also cross the Veterans Bridge and the Fort Duquesne Bridge to reach Downtown.
