Park Ji-yeon (born June 7, 1993), known as Jiyeon, is a South Korean singer, actress, model, host, and entertainer. She became famous as a member of the girl group T-ara in July 2009. Besides her group activities, she has acted in many TV shows and movies. She also started her solo music career in 2014.

Early Life and School Days
Park Ji-yeon was born in Seoul, South Korea, on June 7, 1993. She went to Lila Art High School and finished in 2012. She decided not to go to university. Instead, she chose to focus on her exciting career in entertainment.
Her Journey in Entertainment
Starting Out (2007–2009)
Jiyeon and Hahm Eun-jung were the only two members of T-ara who trained for acting first. But they later switched to singing and became part of the group.
Jiyeon was interested in modeling from a young age. In 2007, when she was 15, she appeared in ads for a clothing company called Smart. She worked with the Korean boy band SHINee. In May 2009, she sang with Davichi and SeeYa on the song "Women's Generation". This was her first public appearance before T-ara debuted. She also appeared in music videos for SG Wannabe. People in the media sometimes called her "Little Kim Tae-hee" because she looked like the famous actress. Jiyeon joined Mnet's company in 2008 and then debuted with T-ara on July 29, 2009.
Acting Roles and Big Success (2007–2013)
Jiyeon started acting in 2007 in a TV show called Lobbyist. She also appeared in Ae-ja and Min-ja in 2008 and Soul in 2009. That same year, she was in High Kick! 2. In 2010, Jiyeon starred in Master of Study, a show based on a Japanese comic. She also played the main role in the horror movie Death Bell 2: Bloody Camp and the teen drama Jungle Fish 2.
In October 2010, Jiyeon became a host for MBC's Show! Music Core. She also joined the cast of SBS's show Heroes. In 2011, she voiced a character in the Korean version of the animated movie Gnomeo and Juliet. In 2012, she acted in the teen drama Dream High 2.
Solo Music and More Acting (2014–2017)
Jiyeon released her first solo song, "Never Ever", in May 2014. The music video was very popular in China. In June, she joined the TV show Triangle. She also started hosting SBS MTV's The Show.
In May 2015, Jiyeon was cast in a Korean-Chinese movie called Encounter. She also sang with Jun-hyung from 2BiC on the song "Summer Love" in July 2015. In 2016, she starred in the web drama My Runway, which was released on Netflix.
New Beginnings (2018–Present)
In early 2018, Jiyeon and the other T-ara members left their agency, MBK Entertainment. She later signed with a Chinese company. In November 2018, she signed with Partners Park for her activities in Korea. She released a digital song called "One Day" in December 2018 as a gift to her fans. On April 2, 2019, Jiyeon was cast in the KBS2 drama I Wanna Hear Your Song. On December 26, 2019, she released her second mini-album, SENPASS, which included the song "Take A Hike".
In October 2020, it was announced that Jiyeon would star in a new web drama called Next Door Witch J. She played a beauty creator. She also joined another TV series called Imitation in 2021. In July 2021, Jiyeon left Partners Park. In February 2022, she signed with AnB Group. In July 2022, Jiyeon held her first solo fan meeting. She also released a new version of her song "Rolling" from 12 years ago.
Her Influence and Popularity
Jiyeon was one of the first girl group members to become famous for both singing and acting. Her acting in shows like God of Study (2010) and Dream High 2 (2012) was very popular. In 2011, a newspaper called her "The best acting-idol."
Jiyeon's pages on Cyworld, a popular social media site, were always among the most visited. In 2011, a plastic surgery clinic reported that Jiyeon's face was the most requested. In 2017, Forbes China listed her among the top global idols popular in China. In 2020, she was voted fifth among popular female K-pop celebrities by King Choice.
Brand Partnerships
Before she became a singer and actress, Jiyeon was a child model. She modeled for many brands and won the "Model of the Year" award in 2008 for a uniform ad. She also won a silver award at the APM Model Contest in 2007.
In 2009, Jiyeon was chosen as the cover model for a popular music album. She was chosen again the next year. In 2010, she became a public relations ambassador for the National Pension Service. In August 2016, Jiyeon worked as an advertising model for a cosmetic brand. In 2024, Jiyeon and singer Uhm Jung-Hwa became muses for "COMEONSTYLE," a big shopping festival.
Personal Life
On February 10, 2022, Park Ji-yeon announced that she would marry baseball player Hwang Jae-gyun. They got married in a private ceremony on December 10, 2022. Their close family and friends attended, and singers IU and Lee Hong-ki sang for them.
Helping Others
In 2015, Jiyeon took part in the "Arbor Day Campaign" to plant trees. In 2016, she joined the "Support Women Comfort" campaign. Money raised from this campaign was donated to a foundation that helps people.
