Pepperell is a small village in the town of Pepperell, located in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, United States. It is known as a census-designated place (CDP). This means it's a specific area that the government defines for counting its population. In 2020, about 2,390 people lived in Pepperell village. The entire town of Pepperell had a population of 11,604 people at that time.
Geography
Pepperell village is found in the northwestern part of Middlesex County. It is located at 42°40′4″N 71°35′15″W / 42.66778°N 71.58750°W. The village is just east of the center of the larger town of Pepperell. To its east, across the Nashua River, is the village of East Pepperell.
Several roads pass through the village. Massachusetts Route 111 goes through the center of Pepperell. If you travel south on Route 111, you will reach Groton in about 4 miles (6 km). Going northeast on Route 111 leads to Nashua, New Hampshire, which is about 10 miles (16 km) away.
Massachusetts Route 113 also crosses Route 111 in the village center. Traveling east on Route 113 takes you to Tyngsborough, about 9 miles (14 km away). If you go southwest on Route 113, you will connect with Massachusetts Route 119 in about 3 miles (5 km). Townsend is located about 7 miles (11 km) west of Pepperell, accessible via Routes 113 and 119.
The Pepperell CDP covers a total area of about 2.14 square miles (5.55 km2). Most of this area, about 2.07 square miles (5.36 km2), is land. The remaining 0.07 square miles (0.18 km2), which is about 3.31% of the total area, is water. The Nashua River flows through the village, and its waters eventually join the Merrimack River.

According to the census from 2000, there were 2,517 people living in the CDP. These people lived in 931 households, and 629 of these were families. Most of the people in the CDP in 2000 were White (96.31%). There were also smaller percentages of Black or African American (0.68%), Native American (0.20%), and Asian (1.23%) residents. About 0.72% of the population identified as Hispanic or Latino.
Out of the 931 households, 40.7% had children under 18 years old living with them. About 53.0% were married couples living together. Around 10.6% of households had a female head with no husband present. About 27.5% of all households were made up of people living alone. Of those living alone, 10.6% were 65 years old or older. The average household had about 2.70 people, and the average family had about 3.35 people.
