Pink Floyd is a famous English rock band. They are known for their unique sound, interesting album covers, and amazing live shows. The band has sold over 210 million albums around the world. This makes them one of the most successful music groups ever!

Pink Floyd started in 1964. At first, their music was called psychedelic or space rock. Later, they became known for progressive rock. This style of music often has long songs and different sounds.

The band was very popular in London in the late 1960s. Their first leader was Syd Barrett. But Syd had health problems, so the band had to find a new guitarist and singer, David Gilmour. After Syd left, Roger Waters, the singer and bass player, slowly became the band's leader.

Pink Floyd made many successful albums. Some of their most famous ones are The Dark Side of the Moon (1973), Wish You Were Here (1975), Animals (1977), and The Wall (1979). These albums were very popular in the United States. The Dark Side of the Moon is one of the best-selling studio albums ever!

In 1985, Roger Waters left the band. He thought Pink Floyd was over. But David Gilmour and the other members kept making music as Pink Floyd. They released more successful albums like A Momentary Lapse of Reason (1987) and The Division Bell (1994).
