The Pocahontas franchise is a collection of movies, video games, and theme park attractions from Disney. It all started in 1995 with the release of the animated film Pocahontas. This franchise is inspired by the true story of a Native American woman named Pocahontas from the early 1600s.

The First Movie: Pocahontas (1995)
Pocahontas is an animated musical movie released in 1995. It was the 33rd animated feature film made by Walt Disney Animation Studios. The movie first came out in theaters on June 23, 1995. It is part of a special time in Disney history called the Disney Renaissance, which lasted from 1989 to 1999.
The Sequel: Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World (1998)
Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World is a movie that came out in 1998. It was released directly to video, meaning it didn't play in theaters first. This film continues the story of Pocahontas. It shows her trip to London, England, with John Rolfe. They go there to try and make peace between their two groups. The movie does not show her death, which happened in real life.

The Spirit of Pocahontas Stage Show
The Spirit of Pocahontas was a live stage show. It was performed at Disneyland in California and at Disney's Hollywood Studios. The show opened at Disneyland on June 23, 1995. It ran until September 4, 1997. At Disney's Hollywood Studios, it also opened on June 23, 1995, but closed in February 1996.
The show lasted about half an hour. It featured special effects and music by Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz. The story was told from the point of view of Pocahontas's Native American tribe.
Pocahontas le Spectacle Stage Show
Pocahontas le Spectacle was a stage show at Disneyland Paris. It opened on May 12, 1996. This show also told a similar story to The Spirit of Pocahontas. Audience members could watch the "filming" of the Pocahontas movie. Some people even got to be extras on stage! The show was performed in both English and French. It closed on August 29, 1999.
Pocahontas Indian Village
Pocahontas Indian Village is a play area at Disneyland Park in Paris, France. It is part of the Frontierland section. This playground is designed to look like a traditional Native American settlement.
Pocahontas and her Forest Friends Show
Pocahontas and her Forest Friends was a live show at Disney's Animal Kingdom in Orlando, Florida. It took place at Grandmother Willow’s Grove, an outdoor theater with 350 seats. The show opened on April 22, 1998, and closed in 2008. It was a short show, lasting about 12 minutes.
In the show, Pocahontas and Grandmother Willow taught the audience. They were joined by a young tree character named Sprig and many live animals. The show taught about the beauty of nature and how to live peacefully with it.

Disney on Ice: Forever Love featuring Pocahontas was an ice skating show. It first appeared in 1996, a year after the Pocahontas movie came out. This ice show traveled around the United States and the world until the year 2000.
Mickey Mouse and his friends presented many Disney stories on ice. The main part of this show was the story of Pocahontas. All the stories in the show were about lasting love. Pocahontas and John Smith showed their love by "painting with all the colors of the wind," just like in the movie.
