Imane Anys (born May 14, 1996), known as Pokimane, is a popular Canadian-Moroccan online streamer and YouTuber. She is famous for her live streams on Twitch, where she plays video games like Valorant and Fortnite. She is currently the most-followed female streamer on Twitch. Pokimane is also a co-founder of OfflineTV, a group of online content creators.

Early Life and Gaming
Imane Anys was born in Morocco in 1996. When she was four, her parents moved to Quebec, Canada. She felt a strong need to do well in school for them. She grew up in St. Catharines, Ontario.
Her older brother, Mo, gave her his old games and cartridges. She played games on the Game Boy, Nintendo DS, and Wii. In middle school, she enjoyed online games like MapleStory. She liked customizing her characters and chatting with other players. Anys started studying chemical engineering in college but later left to focus on her streaming career.
Her Online Journey
Starting on Twitch
Anys created her Twitch account in June 2013. She began streaming later that year. She used a $250 computer she bought online. She started streaming after reaching a high rank in League of Legends. Her name, Pokimane, is a mix of Pokémon and her first name, Imane.
In 2017, she gained 450,000 followers on Twitch. This made her one of the top 100 most-followed accounts. The Shorty Awards even named her the Best Twitch Streamer of the year. They noted her League of Legends gameplay and commentary helped her become popular. Anys also appeared in a League of Legends trailer for a new game mode.
Playing Fortnite and More
Pokimane is well-known for streaming Fortnite. She first streamed it as part of a sponsorship. At E3 in 2018, she played in a Fortnite event with celebrities. She was paired with basketball player Josh Hart.
She often talks with her audience during streams. People describe her as having a "laidback but enthusiastic personality." Besides gaming, she also hosts podcasts and shares moments from her daily life.
Working with Twitch
Twitch has partnered directly with Pokimane because of her popularity. In 2018, she was chosen as an ambassador for TwitchCon, a big event for streamers. Twitch also made her a partner for their Creator Camp. This program helps new streamers build successful channels. In March 2020, she signed a special deal to stream only on Twitch for several years.

YouTube Channels
Pokimane has several YouTube channels. Her main "Pokimane" channel has edited gaming clips from her streams. "Pokimane Too" features other gaming clips, vlogs, and podcasts. "Pokimane VODS" uploads full, unedited recordings of her streams.
She also had a channel called "Poki ASMR" for ASMR content, but she no longer uploads there. In 2021, she started a new channel called "imane." This channel focuses more on personal topics and vlogs, rather than just gaming.
Pokimane was also part of OfflineTV, a group of content creators who live and work together. She said it's fun to live with other streamers. They keep each other company and create great content together.

In October 2019, it was announced that Pokimane would appear in the movie Free Guy. The film was released in August 2021. She also appeared in the music video for Bella Poarch's song "Inferno" in August 2021.
