What is a Christian Minister?
A Christian minister is someone who has been given authority by a church. This means they are officially recognized to lead and guide people in their faith. They serve their community by sharing religious teachings and helping others grow spiritually.
What Do Ministers Do?
Ministers have many important duties. They often:
- Teach about the Christian faith and the Bible.
- Lead worship services where people pray and sing.
- Perform special ceremonies like weddings, where two people get married.
- Lead baptisms, which are ceremonies where someone is welcomed into the church.
- Conduct funerals, helping families say goodbye to loved ones.
- Offer spiritual guidance and comfort to people.
Special Clothing Ministers Wear
Many ministers wear special clothes, called vestments, when they lead services. These clothes can be different depending on the church. For example, some might wear a long robe called a cassock or a white garment called a surplice. These special clothes help show their role in the church.
