Rockie Fresh's Music Journey
In 2009, Rockie Fresh started recording his first mixtape, Rockie's Modern Life. He worked in a small studio in Chicago, Illinois. During this time, he met Andrew Koenig and Andrew Gertler. They became his managers.
The group released Rockie's Modern Life in December 2009. They followed it with another mixtape, The Otherside, in December 2010. This second mixtape was recorded at Studio 11.
The success of these projects brought Rockie Fresh a lot of attention. Hip-hop blogs and magazines praised his music. He performed at many places, including the Bamboozle Festival. There, he met Josh Madden, who introduced him to his brothers, Joel and Benji Madden of Good Charlotte. Rockie's music also caught the eye of Fall Out Boy's lead singer, Patrick Stump. Rockie has said that Stump was a big influence on him. They have even toured together.
After The Otherside was released, Rockie Fresh was named one of Metromix's "25 Hottest Artists Under 25." His music was also featured on The CW's TV show Nikita. He also appeared on Good Charlotte's project, The Madden Brothers: Before The Fame. This was reported by Rolling Stone and Billboard magazines.
In 2012, Rockie Fresh released his mixtape Driving 88. This led to him signing with Rick Ross' Maybach Music Group on July 12, through Atlantic Records. After signing, he released his fifth mixtape. This was his first project with Maybach Music Group, called 'Electric Highway'. It featured other artists like Lunice, Rick Ross, Nipsey Hussle, and Curren$y. The music was produced by The Gift, Boi-1da, and The Maven Boys. He also appeared on Rick Ross' mixtape "The Black Bar Mitzvah". He worked on other songs and remixes with Maybach Music Group.
On April 29, 2013, Rockie Fresh released a seven-song project. It was called 'The Birthday Tape' because it came out on his birthday. It featured his fellow MMG members Rick Ross and Gunplay. Soon after, he announced a deal with the shoe and clothing brand PUMA. The album Self Made Vol. 3 from MMG was released on September 16, 2013. Rockie Fresh appeared on four songs on the album. He was also on two more songs on the Best Buy deluxe edition.
On December 16, 2013, Rockie Fresh and Casey Veggies released a mixtape together. It was called "Fresh Veggies." PUMA presented it, and it was released by Maybach Music Group and Peas N' Carrots International. The mixtape featured artists like Overdoz, Ty Dolla $ign, Juicy J, Kirko Bangz, and Hit-Boy. "Fresh Veggies" was produced by Lunice, Jahlil Beats, and Hit-Boy. Rockie Fresh was considered for the 2014 XXL freshman class, but he did not make the final list.
On October 23, 2018, Rockie Fresh announced he signed with Rostrum Records. He also released his new song "No Satisfaction." This was announced by Billboard Magazine.
