Satya Narayana Nadella was born on August 19, 1967. He is an American business leader who was born in India. He is currently the chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) of Microsoft. He became the CEO in 2014, taking over from Steve Ballmer. In 2021, he also became the chairman, following John W. Thompson. Before becoming CEO, he was in charge of Microsoft's cloud and business computer systems.

Early Life and Education
Satya Nadella was born in Hyderabad, India, on August 19, 1967. His family was Telugu and Hindu. His mother, Prabhavati, taught Sanskrit. His father, Bukkapuram Nadella Yugandhar, was a government officer.
Nadella went to the Hyderabad Public School. He then earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering in 1988. This was from the Manipal Institute of Technology in Karnataka, India. After that, he moved to the United States.
College Studies in the U.S.
In the U.S., he studied computer science at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. He received his master's degree in 1990. Later, in 1997, he earned a business degree (an MBA) from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
Satya Nadella's Career Journey
Satya Nadella started his career in technology before joining Microsoft. He worked at Sun Microsystems as part of their technology team. He joined Microsoft in 1992.
Working at Microsoft (1992–2014)

At Microsoft, Nadella led many important projects. He helped the company move towards cloud computing. This means storing and accessing data and programs over the internet instead of on your computer. He also helped build one of the world's largest cloud systems.
Nadella held several important roles at Microsoft. He was a senior vice-president for the Online Services Division. He also worked as vice-president of the Microsoft Business Division. Later, he became president of the Server and Tools Business. He helped change this part of the company to focus more on cloud services. He is known for bringing Microsoft's database, Windows Server, and developer tools to its Azure cloud platform.
When he took over the Server and Tools Business in 2011, its revenue was $16.6 billion. By June 2013, it had grown to $20.3 billion.
Becoming CEO of Microsoft (2014–Present)
On February 4, 2014, Satya Nadella became the new CEO of Microsoft. He was the third CEO in the company's history. The previous CEOs were Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer.
In October 2014, Nadella spoke at an event about women in computing. He made a comment that caused some discussion. He later apologized on Twitter and in an email to Microsoft employees, saying he was "Completely wrong."
As CEO, Nadella has focused on working with other companies. This includes companies that Microsoft also competes with, like Apple Inc., Salesforce, and IBM. He even said that "Microsoft ❤️ Linux," which was a big change. Microsoft joined the Linux Foundation in 2016.

Satya Nadella is also involved in sports. He is part of a group that bought the Seattle Orcas cricket team. This team is part of the 2023 Major League Cricket season. Satya Nadella has received many awards for his work.

Personal Life
In 1992, Satya Nadella married Anupama Priyadarshini. She was his junior at Manipal and studied architecture. They have three children: a son who passed away, and two daughters. They live in Clyde Hill and Bellevue, Washington. Their son, Zain, had cerebral palsy and was legally blind. He passed away in February 2022 at age 26. Nadella has said that being a father to a child with special needs changed his life.
Nadella enjoys reading American and Indian poetry. He also loves cricket and played on his school team. He believes cricket helped him develop his leadership skills.
In 2017, Nadella wrote a book called Hit Refresh. The book talks about his life and his time at Microsoft. He announced that all the money from the book would go to charity.
