Company History
Skurnik Wines & Spirits was started in 1987 by Michael Skurnik. He first learned about the drink industry while working at a famous restaurant called Windows on the World. There, he learned from a wine expert named Kevin Zraly. After that, Michael worked in sales for other drink companies.
Family Business Begins
Michael's brother, Harmon Skurnik, joined the company in 1989. Harmon had worked for ten years in marketing and advertising before joining his brother.
Today, Michael and Harmon Skurnik run the company together. Michael is the chief executive officer, and Harmon is the president.
Moving and Renaming
In 2014, Skurnik Wines & Spirits moved its main offices. They moved from Syosset, New York, to Manhattan, which is a busy part of New York City.
At the same time, the company changed its name. It used to be called Michael Skurnik Wines. They changed it to Skurnik Wines to show that the whole family was involved in the business.
In 2013, a wine expert named Tyler Colman said that Michael Skurnik was one of the most important people in the New York City wine business.
