Southampton (pronounced SAOWTH-hamp-tun) is a town in Hampshire County, Massachusetts, United States. It was first set up as a part of Northampton in 1732. The town officially became its own separate place in 1775.
The name Southampton was chosen at its very first town meeting in 1773. The town's ZIP code is 01073. Southampton is also part of the larger Springfield area. In 2020, about 6,224 people lived there.
In 2008, Southampton's tap water was named the best-tasting in the country. This award came from the National Rural Water Association.

Southampton is in the state of Massachusetts. It is about 17 miles northwest of Springfield. The town is also about 100 miles west of Boston, the capital city.
