Steven Universe Future is an animated show from America. It was made by Rebecca Sugar for Cartoon Network. This series is like an extra chapter after the original Steven Universe show (2013–2019) and its movie, Steven Universe: The Movie (2019). It first aired on December 7, 2019, and finished on March 27, 2020.
The story takes place after the big war between the Crystal Gems and Homeworld has ended. Now, humans and Gems live together peacefully. With no more threats from the powerful Diamonds or corrupted Gems, Steven faces new daily challenges. He also starts to wonder what his purpose is now that the fighting is over.
Just like the first series, Steven Universe Future was highly praised by critics. People loved its art, music, voice acting, and how the characters were developed. The show also bravely explored themes important to the LGBT community. Future was especially noted for focusing on what happens after the main story's big ending. It also helped people understand mental health by showing Steven's own struggles with his past experiences. The show was even nominated for an Emmy Award in 2020.

What the Story is About
This series starts after the events of Steven Universe: The Movie. That movie happened two years after the Steven Universe series finale, "Change Your Mind". In that episode, Steven convinced the Diamonds, who ruled the Gem empire, to stop their harmful ways. He also helped them heal the corrupted Gems that had been causing trouble on Earth.
Now, Steven and his friends, the Crystal Gems, have built a new place called Little Homeworld. It's a community on Earth where Gems and humans can live together happily. Steven spends his time inviting Gems to "Little Homeschool." There, he teaches them how to find their new place in the galaxy.
Steven Universe Future shows Steven's daily life as he tries to help Gems find new goals. It also shows the difficulties he faces in his new, peaceful life. He realizes that some problems he just can't fix. He also feels a bit lost himself, now that he has successfully freed the Gem empire. Steven meets old enemies who want revenge. He also tries to control a new power he doesn't fully understand. Most importantly, he has to decide what he wants for his own future.

What's Next for the Story?
Rebecca Sugar, the creator, has said that Steven Universe Future is the end of this series. There are no plans for more episodes or projects right now. However, she has hinted that more stories could happen in the future. She said, "The story is continuing off screen and I do know what happens next... But I would have to decide how and when I'd want to dig into that, or if it's best to give them their privacy."
Sugar later told Fast Company: "I'm certainly interested in spending more time in this world with these characters. But the thing about Steven Universe, it's about Steven Universe and I want to give him the time to heal." She added, "I want to give that to my team as well. So I'm not really sure for certain what's going to happen in the future. I have a few ideas, but I'm going to take a little time to reevaluate everything before I jump into them." When asked by TVLine, Sugar said something similar: "I love these characters and this world, and I have theories about the timelines that follow Future. But I want to give the characters some time and some privacy, at least for a while. I need a little of that too."
