Sugnens was once a small town, or municipality, located in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland. It was part of the Gros-de-Vaud area.
On July 1, 2011, Sugnens joined with three other nearby towns: Dommartin, Naz, and Poliez-le-Grand. Together, they formed a new, larger town called Montilliez.

History of Sugnens
Sugnens is quite old! The first time anyone wrote about Sugnens was in the year 1177. It was mentioned by its original name, Sugnens.
Where is Sugnens?
Sugnens covers an area of about 2.69 square kilometers (which is about 1 square mile). This is how the land was used in 2009:
- Most of the land, about 68.4%, was used for farming. This means fields for crops and pastures for animals.
- About 24.5% of the land was covered by forests.
- The remaining 6.7% was built-up areas, like houses and roads.
Sugnens includes the main village of Sugnens. It also has two smaller areas called hamlets: Monteilly and Pre Morex.
Before 2006, Sugnens was part of a different district called Echallens. When that district was closed, Sugnens became part of the new Gros-de-Vaud district.
Sugnens' Coat of Arms
Every town has a special symbol called a coat of arms. It's like a unique logo for the town. The coat of arms for Sugnens has a special design.
It is split down the middle. One side is silver (called Argent in heraldry) and the other side is red (called Gules). On this background, there are two scythe blades. A scythe is a tool used for cutting grass or crops. The blades are placed back-to-back and their colors are swapped: the part on the silver side is red, and the part on the red side is silver.
