Szymon Hołownia believes in democracy, where people have a say in their government. He supports sovereignty, meaning Poland should govern itself. He also believes in the rule of law, where everyone, including the government, must follow the law. He values civil society, where citizens work together, and separation of powers, which means different parts of the government have separate jobs.
He thinks Poland's changes after 1989 were important, but some things could have been better. He believes local governments play a very important role. He sees the Constitution of Poland as the most important law that the president must follow. He has been critical of some past governments and their changes to the justice system.
Szymon Hołownia wants to find common ground with people from all political views. He supports Poland being a member of NATO, the European Union, and the Weimar Triangle. He also wants Poland to have good relationships with Ukraine and the Baltic states.
Ideas for Poland
Hołownia has suggested holding a public vote to increase funding for health care in Poland. He believes Poland should spend 7% of its total economic output on healthcare. He also wants to make doctors' work easier and expand telemedicine services, which allow doctors to help patients remotely. He thinks hospitals should be managed by local governments to improve services. He supports better public transportation to connect rural areas with bigger cities.
He wants to make sure that state-owned companies are not controlled by political parties. He supports creating a National Climate Council to help Poland become carbon neutral by 2050. This means moving away from coal energy. He sees water shortages and cutting down forests for energy as major environmental problems. He supports using renewable and nuclear energy.
Szymon Hołownia also supports building more public housing and lowering bank fees to make living more affordable. He has said he would not approve any laws that give banks subsidies for housing loans. He believes military spending can help the economy grow, especially if half of the money is spent in Poland.
He is against gay marriage but supports legalizing civil unions for same-sex couples. He believes that members of his political group should vote based on their own beliefs on such issues. He also supports banning phones in primary schools.
