Tabernacle Dome is a cool mountain peak located in Zion National Park in southwest Utah, United States. This impressive rock formation stands 6,430 feet (1,960 meters) tall! It's made mostly of a type of rock called Navajo Sandstone, which gives it its unique look.

Tabernacle Dome is found in a beautiful area called Cave Valley, about 10 miles (16 km) northwest of a town called Springdale, Utah. It has some mountain neighbors, like Cave Knoll to the north and South Guardian Angel and North Guardian Angel to the east and northeast.

When it rains or snows on Tabernacle Dome, the water flows into small streams. These streams eventually join the Virgin River, which is an important river in the park. You can get to this peak by using the Kolob Terrace Road.

The name "Tabernacle Dome" was officially given to the peak in 1934 by the United States Board on Geographic Names. It was named because it looks a bit like the Salt Lake Tabernacle, a famous building in Salt Lake City.

Weather and Climate

The best times to visit Tabernacle Dome are during spring and fall. The weather is usually just right for exploring the park then.

This area has a Cold semi-arid climate. This means that the coldest month of the year has an average temperature below 32 °F (0 °C). Also, more than half of the yearly rain and snow falls during spring and summer.

Even though it gets some rain, this is a desert climate. It usually receives less than 10 inches (250 mm) of rain each year. Snowfall in winter is generally light, so it doesn't get huge amounts of snow.
