Tatiana "Tati" Guimarães Weston-Webb (born May 9, 1996) is a talented surfer from Brazil. She also has American and English roots. Tatiana is known for her powerful surfing style. She became a professional surfer on the World Championship Tour in 2015. She has competed for Brazil in the Summer Olympics, winning a silver medal in 2024. This made her the first Brazilian woman surfer to win an Olympic medal.

About Tatiana's Life

Her Family and Where She Grew Up

Tatiana's father, Douglas Weston-Webb, was born in England. His family was involved in the textile business. The name Weston-Webb is a special kind of last name, called a double-barrelled surname. It was created when two important families in the textile industry married. Douglas moved to Florida in the U.S. when he was young. He learned to surf at age eight and later moved to Kauaʻi, Hawaii, because he loved surfing so much.

Tatiana's mother, Tanira Weston-Webb, was a professional bodyboarder from Brazil. Her aunt, Andrea Guimarães, was also a bodyboarder. Douglas and Tanira met in Hawaii. They moved to Brazil, where Tatiana was born in 1996. Because her father was born in the United Kingdom, Tatiana also became a British citizen when she was born.

Starting Her Surfing Journey

When Tatiana was just two months old, her family moved back to Hawaii. At age 8, she watched her older brother, Troy, surf and decided to try it too. Surfing quickly became a fun competition between them. Tatiana received her first surfboard soon after.

In 2011, Tatiana even acted in a movie! She played 11-year-old Bethany Hamilton in the film Soul Surfer.

Her Marriage

In 2020, Tatiana married Jessé Mendes dos Santos. He is also a professional surfer from Brazil. They had a small wedding ceremony on a beach in Kauaʻi.

Tatiana's Surfing Career

Joining the World Tour

In 2015, Tatiana earned a spot on the World Championship Tour. This is where the best surfers in the world compete.

Competing for Brazil in the Olympics

On April 29, 2018, Tatiana announced she would represent Brazil in surfing competitions. This was a big step because she wanted to compete for her home country in the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Surfing had just become an official Olympic sport, and it was a dream for her to be part of it.

In the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Tatiana finished in the round of 16. She continued to train hard and competed again in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. There, she made it all the way to the final round! She won a silver medal, just barely missing the gold to world champion Caroline Marks. This was a historic moment for Brazil in surfing.

Taking a Break

In March 2025, Tatiana shared that she was taking a break from the World Championship Tour. She explained that she needed time for her mental well-being.
