Teguise is a special area called a municipality in the middle of Lanzarote island. Lanzarote is part of the Canary Islands, which belong to Spain. Teguise is home to about 22,342 people (as of 2019). It covers an area of 263.98 square kilometers.
You can find Teguise north of Arrecife and south of Haría. The main town in this area is also called Teguise. This municipality also includes several nearby islands. These islands are Graciosa (which has about 733 people), Alegranza, Roque del Este, Roque del Oeste, and Montaña Clara.

Famous People and Insects!
A very famous artist and architect named César Manrique was born in this area. He designed many amazing buildings and sculptures on Lanzarote.
Did you know that a special insect lives here? It's called the cochineal. From this tiny insect, people get a bright red dye called carmine. It's used in food, cosmetics, and art!

Teguise has many interesting places to visit. One popular spot is the Jardín de Cactus, which means "Cactus Garden." It's in a town called Guatiza. Here, you can see thousands of different cacti from all over the world.
