Her mother, Yolanda Miranda Mange, was a painter and also managed Thalía's career for many years. Her father, Ernesto Sodi Pallares, was a scientist and writer. He passed away in 1977 when Thalía was six years old.

When she was just one year old, Thalía appeared in her first TV commercial in Mexico. At age four, she started taking ballet and piano lessons. Her father's death deeply affected her. Thalía later shared that she lost her voice for a whole year because of the trauma. She also mentioned that she was bullied as a child after losing her father.

Thalía went to the Lycée Franco-Mexicain elementary school. There, she learned to speak French very well at a young age. In 1976, she had a small part in a Mexican film called La guerra de los pasteles (War of Cakes).

Music Career Journey

Starting Out: Pac Man and Timbiriche (1981–1989)

In 1981, when Thalía was nine, she joined a children's music group called Pac Man. They performed in a popular TV music festival. Later, the band changed its name to "Din-Din." Thalía performed with Din-Din at many events and toured Mexico. The band recorded four albums before breaking up.

After Din-Din ended in 1984, Thalía sang as a solo artist in the same music festival. In 1984, she came in second place. This led her to join the chorus of the musical Vaselina, which was a child version of Grease. The famous band Timbiriche was also in this musical. Thalía later got the main role of Sandy Dee in Vaselina. She performed in 500 shows with Timbiriche.

In 1986, Thalía officially became a member of Timbiriche. In 1987, she started acting on TV in a telenovela called Pobre señorita Limantour. That same year, she recorded the main song for the teen telenovela Quinceañera. Thalía was a co-star in this show. Quinceañera won "Best Telenovela" in 1988, and Thalía won "Best New Actress."

With Timbiriche, Thalía recorded four studio albums. In 1989, she left the band. That year, she also starred in Luz y sombra (Light and Shadow), her first main role. After this, she went to Los Angeles to study English, music, singing, acting, and dancing. She prepared for her solo music career.
