Ariadna Thalía Sodi Miranda (born August 26, 1971), known simply as Thalía, is a famous Mexican singer, songwriter, and actress. She is often called the "Queen of Latin Pop" and is one of the most successful Mexican artists ever. Thalía has sold around 25 million records all over the world, making her one of the best-selling Latin music artists. Besides her native Spanish, she has also sung in English, French, Portuguese, and Tagalog.
Thalía has won many awards, including five Billboard Latin Music Awards and eight Lo Nuestro Awards. She has worked with many famous artists like Tony Bennett, Michael Bublé, Robbie Williams, and Marc Anthony.
As an actress, Thalía became famous for starring in popular telenovelas (Spanish-language soap operas). Her shows were watched in over 180 countries by an estimated 2 billion people. This earned her the nickname "Queen of Telenovelas." Her TV fame helped her music become popular in countries where Spanish isn't the main language.
On December 5, 2013, Thalía received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for her achievements in music. She is also a successful businesswoman with her own fashion brand and has written four books. Thalía is involved in helping others and has been a UNICEF Mexico Ambassador since 2016.

Early Life and Family
Ariadna Thalía Sodi Miranda was born on August 26, 1971, in Mexico City. She was the youngest of five daughters. Her mother, Yolanda Miranda Mange, was a painter and managed Thalía's career for many years. Her father, Ernesto Sodi Pallares, was a scientist and writer.
Thalía's father passed away from diabetes in 1977 when she was six years old. This experience was very difficult for her. She attended a special school, the Lycée Franco-Mexicain, where she learned to speak French. From a young age, she took ballet and piano lessons.
Music Career
1981–1989: Beginnings with Timbiriche
Thalía's career started when she was nine years old. In 1981, she joined a children's music group called Pac Man, which was later renamed Din-Din. The group toured all over Mexico and recorded four albums.
After Din-Din broke up, Thalía performed as a solo artist in music festivals. This led to her joining the cast of Vaselina, a kids' version of the musical Grease. She acted alongside the popular band Timbiriche. In 1986, Thalía officially became a member of Timbiriche.
With Timbiriche, she recorded four albums and starred in the hit telenovela Quinceañera. The show was very successful and won an award for Best Telenovela. Thalía left Timbiriche in 1989 to start her solo career.
1990–1993: Solo Career Launch
In 1990, Thalía released her first solo album, also called Thalía. Some of the songs, like "Un Pacto Entre los Dos" and "Saliva", were considered a bit daring for the time. Her next albums, Mundo de cristal (1991) and Love (1992), were also very successful in Mexico and Latin America. The album Love sold over 200,000 copies in its first month in Mexico.
1994–1999: Becoming an International Star
In 1994, Thalía signed with the record label EMI and released her fourth album, En éxtasis (1995). This album included the hit song "Piel morena", which became a huge international success. The album made her famous worldwide and sold well in over 20 countries.
Her telenovelas, especially the "Las Tres Marías" trilogy (María Mercedes, Marimar, and María la del barrio), made her a global TV star. In 1997, she released a special album in the Philippines called Nandito Ako, which included songs in the Filipino language.
Her fifth album, Amor a la mexicana (1997), was another huge success. It helped her become popular in European countries like France, Spain, and Greece. She also recorded songs for the soundtrack of the animated movie Anastasia.
2000–2005: Crossover Success
Thalía's 2000 album, Arrasando, was a hit and earned her a Latin Grammy nomination. In 2001, she was invited by U.S. President George W. Bush to perform at a Cinco de mayo celebration at the White House.
Her 2002 album, Thalía, was a major success in the U.S., reaching number 11 on the Billboard 200 chart. It included the hit singles "Tú y Yo" and "No me enseñaste".
In 2003, she released her first English-language album, also titled Thalía. It featured the rapper Fat Joe on the single "I Want You", which became a top 40 hit in the U.S. In 2004, she went on her "High Voltage Tour" in the USA and Mexico.
2009–2013: Primera Fila and Habítame Siempre
After a break, Thalía returned in 2009 with an acoustic album called Primera Fila. The album was a massive success, especially in Mexico, where it became the best-selling album of 2010 and stayed on the charts for over a year. It sold over 1.5 million copies worldwide.
In 2012, she released Habítame siempre, which featured duets with artists like Robbie Williams and Michael Bublé. The album was certified triple platinum in Mexico. In 2013, she launched her VIVA! Tour, her first tour in a decade.
2014–Present: Continued Success
Thalía has continued to release successful albums, including Amore Mio (2014) and Latina (2016). In 2018, her album Valiente featured the hit single "No Me Acuerdo", which was a huge success in the U.S. and Spain.
She has also released children's albums, like Viva Kids Vol. 1 (2014) and Viva Kids Vol. 2 (2020). Her most recent studio album is DesAMORfosis, released in 2021. She continues to collaborate with popular artists and remains a major figure in Latin music.
Acting Career
Thalía is famous for her roles in telenovelas. Her career took off with the teen drama Quinceañera in 1987.

Personal Life
On December 2, 2000, Thalía married music executive Tommy Mottola. They have two children, a daughter named Sabrina Sakaë (born in 2007) and a son named Matthew Alejandro (born in 2011).
Thalía is a religious person and began studying Kabbalah in 2002. She lives in New York with her family and became a U.S. citizen in 2006, while also keeping her Mexican citizenship.
Legacy

Thalía is known as the "Queen of Latin Pop" and is one of the most influential Hispanic entertainers. Her music and telenovelas have made Mexican culture popular all over the world. In 1997, the city of Los Angeles declared April 25th as "Thalia's National Day" to honor her popularity.
She is considered a gay icon and is admired for her success as a singer, actress, and businesswoman. Producer Emilio Estefan called her "Mexico's diva of divas." Her success has inspired many other artists in the Latin music world.
