About the Show
This series seems to happen after the original Winnie-the-Pooh stories. In the show, Christopher Robin is about 11 years old and in sixth grade. The show changes some things from the original books. For example, Tigger already lives in the Hundred Acre Wood. Also, Kanga and Roo are introduced later as new friends.
Each episode starts in Christopher Robin's bedroom. His mom tells him it's time for school. After he leaves, the special book with Pooh and his friends opens. Then the show's theme song begins! In this series, Tigger likes honey, which is different from other stories where "Tiggers don't like honey!" Also, Tigger can climb up and down trees easily. Christopher Robin's face is never shown in the series. In this show, Rabbit lives in a tree, not a burrow, which is also a change from some other versions.
Meet the Characters
The characters in The Book of Pooh often sing and dance. These songs and dances help tell the story in each episode. Many of the stories in the show are new and not directly from A.A. Milne's original books.
The way the show looks, with its special puppet designs and animation, was done by Chris Renaud. He later became a co-director for the movie Despicable Me in 2010.
Here are the main characters and the actors who gave them their voices:
- Winnie the Pooh and Tigger: Jim Cummings
- Piglet: John Fiedler (speaking voice) / Jeff Bennett (singing voice)
- Rabbit: Ken Sansom
- Eeyore: Peter Cullen
- Owl: Andre Stojka
- Kessie: Stephanie D'Abruzzo
- Kanga: Kath Soucie
- Roo: Nikita Hopkins
- Christopher Robin: Paul Tiesler
- Christopher Robin's Mom: Vicki Kenderes Eibner
- Mr. Narrator: Roger L. Jackson
The versions of Tigger and Pooh from this show also appeared in a music video. This video was for the We Are Family Foundation.
Puppetry Style
The show uses a special kind of puppetry. It is based on Japanese bunraku puppetry. This style, along with the backgrounds that look like cut-outs, makes the show look like a pop-up book. This is why it's called "The Book of Pooh." This was the first time the "Shadowmation" process was used. This process was created by Mitchell Kriegman. It was later used in another TV series called It's a Big Big World.
Main Songs
- "Everyone Knows He's Winnie the Pooh" (This is the song you hear at the beginning of the show.)
- "Goodbye for Now" (This is the song you hear at the end of the show.)

The Movie Spin-off
There is also a movie based on the TV series. It is called The Book of Pooh: Stories from the Heart. This movie was released directly to video. It was produced by Walt Disney Pictures and Walt Disney Television Animation.
The film is a collection of six episodes from the TV series. Each episode in the movie focuses on one character. The movie connects these episodes with a simple story. In this story, the characters wait in Christopher Robin's room for him to arrive. Like the TV show, each episode in the movie includes an original song.
Watching at Home
Several VHS tapes of The Book of Pooh were released in the early 2000s. These tapes allowed families to watch their favorite episodes at home. Some popular titles included "Fun with Friends" and "A Valentine for Eeyore."
