A toaster pastry is a yummy treat that's like a flat, sweet sandwich. It's often made with flour, syrup, and a bit of fat called shortening. One side usually has a sweet, dry icing. Inside, you'll find tasty fillings like fruit preserves, chocolate, or cinnamon. You can heat them in a toaster or oven, but they are already cooked and ready to eat!

This section explores some well-known brands of toaster pastries.
Toast'em Pop Ups
Toast'ems started way back in February 1964. They were first called "Country Squares" by the company Post. A year later, in 1965, they changed their name to Toast'em Pop Ups. This brand was later sold to Schulze and Burch in 1971.
Pop-Tarts
Pop-Tarts are super popular and have been the top-selling toaster pastry for many years. Kellogg's first introduced them in 1964. They come in many different flavors, from fruity to chocolatey!
Pillsbury Toaster Strudels
Pillsbury makes Toaster Strudels. These pastries are designed to taste like a traditional German strudel. They come with a special packet of icing you can squeeze on top. Unlike other toaster pastries, you need to keep Toaster Strudels in the freezer.
Nabisco Toastettes
Nabisco created their own toaster pastry called "Toastettes" in 1967. They wanted to compete with Kellogg's Pop-Tarts. However, Toastettes were stopped in 2002 after a marketing effort didn't work out. Nabisco also tried making a toaster pastry based on the famous Oreo cookie, called "Kool Stuf," but it was also discontinued.
Quaker Oats Toastables
The Quaker Oats Company, which is now part of PepsiCo, produces "Toastables." These are another type of toaster pastry you might find in stores.
Nature's Path Organic Pastries
