The Story of Tone Mason

Don D. started making music in the 1990s. He was part of a hip-hop group called Nefarius. Don D. was their DJ and also produced their songs. After a group member passed away, Don D. and MC Collizhun released a short album called Tough Dumplin' Foundation For Better Beats. Later, they went their separate ways.

Before Nefarius ended, Don D. met Aloysius Brown and Mellenius. The three became "production protégés" for each other. This means they learned from and helped each other with music production. Don D. thought their music was too good to be kept secret. So, they decided to form Tone Mason.

In 2003, the group produced a song called "Back Where I've Stayed." This song was for Choclair's album, Flagrant. That album even won a Juno Award! In 2006, Tone Mason also produced a popular song called "Hood Boy" for the singer Fantasia Barrino.
