Transamerica Pyramid facts for kids
The Transamerica Pyramid is a very famous and tall building in San Francisco. It's easy to spot in the city's skyline! This unique building is the main office for the Transamerica Corporation, and you can even see its shape in the company's logo.
The Transamerica Pyramid was designed by a talented architect named William Pereira. It was built by the Hathaway Dinwiddie Construction Company. The building stands about 260 meters (850 feet) tall. When it was finished in 1972, it was one of the five tallest buildings in the whole world! That's super tall. Most of the building is for offices. Visitors can only go into the lobby on the first floor. This means you can't go to the very top to see the amazing views of San Francisco from up high.
