Trevor Howard Lawrence Jackson (born August 30, 1996) is a talented American actor and singer. He is well-known for his roles in popular TV shows and movies. You might recognize him as Aaron Jackson from the Freeform series Grown-ish. He also played Kevin Blake in the Syfy series Eureka and Kris McDuffy in the Disney Channel movie Let It Shine.

Trevor also appeared as Kevin LaCroix in American Crime. Before his TV and film roles, he performed on Broadway. He played Young Simba in The Lion King musical. In 2012, he won a Young Artist Award for his acting. In 2018, he starred in the movie Superfly.

Early Life and Beginnings

Trevor Jackson was born in Indianapolis, Indiana. He is the younger of two sons. His parents are Cam Baxter and Kevin Jackson. Even though his family was interested in basketball, Trevor decided at age eight that he wanted to work in entertainment.

He practiced his skills in his hometown and performed across the country. One of his early performances was a dance routine on Showtime at the Apollo. In 2004, when he was eight, Trevor got the role of Young Simba. This was for the national tour of The Lion King musical. He stayed with the show for some time.

Career Highlights

Early Acting Roles and Eureka

After performing in The Lion King, Trevor moved to television. In 2010, he appeared as a guest star in an episode of Cold Case. From 2010 to 2012, he played Kevin Blake in the last two seasons of Eureka.

In August 2011, Trevor continued his TV work. He starred in an episode of Harry's Law. For this role, he won a Young Artist Award for Best Performance in a TV Series. Later, Jackson was a guest star on the Disney Channel show Austin & Ally.

Let It Shine and Music Career Starts

In 2012, Trevor started acting in movies. He played Quincy Smith in the film A Beautiful Soul. That same year, he starred in the Disney Channel movie Let It Shine. He played Kris McDuffy alongside Tyler James Williams. Trevor's character was the best friend of Cyrus, who was an aspiring hip hop musician.

In 2012, Trevor Jackson signed with Atlantic Records. He released his first song, "Like We Grown," in February 2013. The music video for the song featured Disney Channel actress Zendaya. To create his EP (Extended Play) called #NewThang, Trevor worked with producers like Eric Hudson and J.R. Rotem.

In September 2013, the #NewThang EP was released. Trevor then released his second single, "Drop It." This song was even featured in a McDonald's commercial. To promote his EP, Trevor toured with fellow Atlantic Records artist Justine Skye.

Recent Projects and In My Feelings

In January 2014, Trevor released "New Thang." He also released a remix of his song "Drop It" with rapper B.o.B. In May, he was featured on Diggy Simmons' song "My Girl." In the summer of 2015, Trevor released his first full-length album.

He released the album's first single, "Good Girl, Bad Girl," on June 3, 2014. On July 22, 2014, Trevor posted a lyric video for a song called "Me Likey" with Kirko Bangz. On August 3, 2014, Trevor toured with Diggy Simmons on the "Who Else But Us Tour." He also released a new song, "Know Your Name," featuring Sage The Gemini.

In August 2015, Trevor released his project In My Feelings on iTunes. In September, he released the music video for his song "Bang Bang," which features Kevin Gates.

Trevor joined the main cast of American Crime in its second season. He played Kevin Lacroix. In 2019, he won the "Soul Train Certified Award" at the 2019 Soul Train Music Awards. Currently, Trevor is acting on the Freeform show "Grown-ish" as Aaron Jackson. Aaron is a classmate and love interest of the main character, Zoey Johnson.

Trevor Jackson looks up to many famous artists for his music. He has said that Michael Jackson, Gregory Hines, Donny Hathaway, Brian McKnight, and the Nicholas Brothers are his biggest musical influences.

Trevor wanted his first album to be a complete work, not just a collection of singles. He aimed for an album that listeners could enjoy from beginning to end. He also wanted every song to tell a story and be an experience.

Giving Back to the Community

Trevor Jackson supports many good causes. In March 2013, he supported Snoop Dogg's "No Guns Allowed" campaign. Trevor released his own version of Snoop Lion's song "No Guns Allowed" to show his support.

In April 2013, Trevor volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House Charities in Chicago. He also took part in the "Strike Out Cystic Fibrosis" Bowling Charity Event in July 2013. Trevor hosted the Duffy's Hope 11th Annual Teen Youth Empowerment Summit in Delaware in August 2013. This organization helps young people with mentoring, health, and education. Trevor has also worked with NBA Cares and The League of Young Voters Education Fund.
