The movie was released on July 17, 2013. Famous actors like Ryan Reynolds, Paul Giamatti, and Samuel L. Jackson lent their voices to the characters.

Turbo received good reviews and earned over $282 million worldwide. The movie also inspired a TV show called Turbo Fast, which started airing on Netflix in December 2013.

Plot Summary

In a garden in Los Angeles, lives a snail named Theo. He dreams of being a famous racer, just like his hero, Guy Gagné. But Theo's love for speed makes him different from other slow snails. His older brother, Chet, often gets embarrassed by him.

One night, Theo wishes he was fast. Suddenly, he gets sucked into a fast car's engine! This accident changes his DNA, giving him amazing superspeed. He also gains some cool car-like features. But his new powers cause trouble, and he and Chet lose their jobs in the garden.

Chet gets angry and is almost eaten by a crow. But Theo uses his new speed to rescue him! They end up at a run-down shopping area called Starlight Plaza. There, they meet Tito Lopez, a taco truck driver. Tito and his friends hold snail races.

Theo, now calling himself "Turbo," easily wins the race. This impresses everyone, especially a snail crew led by Whiplash. Tito dreams of making Starlight Plaza popular again using Turbo's fame. Turbo then convinces Tito to enter him in the famous Indianapolis 500 race! The neighbors help pay the entry fee, and they all travel to Indianapolis.

At first, Tito and Turbo are not allowed to join the race. But Turbo shows off his speed, amazing everyone. He qualifies for the race by reaching an incredible speed of 226 miles per hour! This makes him a huge sensation on social media. The race organizers have no choice but to let Turbo compete.

The night before the race, Turbo meets Guy Gagné. Gagné reveals he's not a hero at all, but a mean and discouraging rival. During the race, Turbo struggles at first because the track is huge and the other racers are very experienced. Whiplash and his crew give Turbo a pep talk. They tell him to race like a snail, not a car.

Turbo uses his small size to his advantage and starts catching up fast. But Gagné tries to cheat and pushes Turbo against the wall. This damages Turbo's shell and makes him lose his superspeed. Turbo feels sad and loses hope.

Seeing his brother in trouble, Chet bravely brings Whiplash's crew to encourage Turbo. With their support, Turbo finds the strength to keep going. Gagné, desperate not to lose, crashes his car but still tries to chase Turbo. In the end, Turbo narrowly wins the race! Gagné gets what he deserves from one of the Starlight Plaza business owners.

After the race, Starlight Plaza becomes a huge success because of Turbo's fame. All the businesses do well, and they even hold exciting snail races. Whiplash's crew gets special upgrades for their shells. Chet is happy with his new job as a race referee. And Turbo discovers his shell has healed, bringing back his superspeed!

In a short scene after the credits, one of the garden snails finally tucks into his shell. But then he realizes he's too big to come out!
