Exploring Warana's Location
Warana is part of the larger Kawana Waters area. Its western side follows the Mooloolah River and a waterway called Wyuna Canal.
Along the beach, there's a special area called a coastal reserve. This reserve stretches south into nearby places like Bokarina and Wurtulla. It helps protect the coastline and stops buildings from being built right on the beach. Most of the homes in Warana are just west of this reserve. In the southwest, there's an area with businesses and some undeveloped marshland.
A Look at Warana's Past
The name Warana was suggested on March 31, 1960. A land developer named Alfred Grant proposed it during talks with the Queensland Government. They were discussing plans to develop the land, and an agreement was made in July 1960. Grant said that Warana meant "blue skies" in a language from Tasmania.
